  • Apple Discussing the "Future of TV" With Media Execs

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, Apple is pushing forward with its plans to release a full-fledged television set and in the process re-invent the way people experience content in their living rooms. This of course involves dealing with the Devil's sons: Media Executives.

According to sources close to the project Apple's vision includes a wirelessly connected television that utilizes streaming content. However, Apple's innovations, and the discussions with execs, revolve around what would be done about Apple's current lineup of devices including the iPhone, iPod, iPad, and computers. One reported solution involves an iCloud integrated DVR system that works across all Apple devices.

Still, how consumers would be forced to pay for this content is unclear.

"It has also broached the idea of licensing content directly from media companies for some sort of subscription-TV service, resembling the packages now offered by cable operators, but the talks have been 'exploratory'." - Wall Street Journal Source.
Hollywood and network executives have already made Netflix's life a living hell with rising content prices, and an inability to negotiate, but if any company can make Lucifer's sons abide it's Apple. Hopefully this means consumers will get an incredibly cheap, pay-for-play cable scheme void of useless channels no one wants to pay for.

I wonder if Samsung will answer back with a Santa bashing anti-Apple commercial?

That would be cool for pvr if you could skip over but I wonder how that could work for live tv?

Starting at $5,000.00 for a 20 inch screen? I'll pass, then in another year they add 2 more screws to the back of the tv, and market it as a new innovation with a $6,500.00 price tag this time. Hahahaha.

Wow great point, no ads flashing all over the screen like the Las Vegas strip.

Do you see the irony in what your saying on an apple based website ?

I'd be more then happy to take your 'annoying' iphone/ipad/ipod out of your hands. I'll happily send you my nokia cellphone from 2001

P.S - that image in the article has to be some of the worst photoshopping i've seen in my life. Did you guys use MS paint ?

Completely agree. With everyone needing a tv around this time of the year most probably got one on or near Black Friday. Plus those people were looking for a good deal on a tv. The rich people may buy these tv's. I don't see how there won't be a remote like some have said. I'm guessing there will be an app that allows you to use your iPhone as a remote or what not. Even if the tv had Siri what if you have the volume up really high? The tv won't be able to hear anything you say I would think. I look forward to seeing what they come out with and the hefty price tag along with it.

Ha, I agree it is rather terrible, but the Photo is not the work of anyone at ModMyi. Simply a crappy stock google image.

Flash is dead on a mobile device not on windows or mac but if you were not sleeping all year you would know that. But if they make a TV that doesn't have flash that will be disappointing. Because without flash you wouldn't have access to the entire web. We would be stuck with HTML5

Meh, it sounds cool but I know it'll be limited as to what you can do. I already have a 55" LED and a G5 Power PC. I'm gonna replace the PPC with a quad core MacMini and I'll be far ahead of the Apple TV. Using my iPhone, iPad or wireless mouse and keyboard. I may not have voice controls, but I do have VLC!

^^ that would be cool to use your iPhone/IPad/iPod as the remote for this TV.

Apple's pinning the future on iOS, get used to it. Completely controlled, closed, and a cash-cow for Apple.
