[Review] Does the Dark Spotlight Screen and Charging Screen Just Annoy You?

Never again will you need to look at a dark overlay on your iDevice!

Developer DjKira has released a jailbreak tweak into Cydia which allows you to set the Wallpaper's alpha to the minimum value no matter where you are on your SpringBoard. The jailbreak tweak is known as WAlpha and from the screenshots above, you can already see what I am talking about.

While I'm not sure what this might be useful for (themes?), it allows you to get rid of that dark overlay anywhere that you have your wallpaper. Since the lock screen is not the only place with that dark overlay, you can expect the other location with the dark overlay to disappear as well. Below, you can see the other place (Spotlight) with absolutely no dark overlay:

Well guys, that's about all that this tweak does. It's free and might make some themes look better, but to me I'm going to have to say that it is hard on the eyes with the stock look of iOS. You can see from Spotlight that you can hardly see the status bar information on top of the stock iOS background and from the lock screen the large, centered battery doesn't blend very well with the colors of the wallpaper. Who would really use this tweak? Well, I'm not really sure. But if you're a minimalist and want to get rid of that black overlay, then check out WAlpha.

No, it's not. It's Siri dictation tweak that was released in cydia a while back.

iPhone 4 and 3GS on 4.1 and 5.0, never had the spotlight screen darken. Always wondered when people mentioned it.

This tweak is awesome but the bottom of the home screen is still darkened if you look closely. I hope there's an update for that! Anyways, still useful nonetheless.

No real tweak needed... Some themes already had that for a while. Been running Aygo HD for almost a year now and it's definitely not the stock screen when charging (ok it is still black but it has been done for quite some time...)

the black battery screen bugged me and ive been looking for a tweak that made it the wallpaper for ages, so a 10/10 for me

i think thats to do with that background image, ive installed it on my own background image and it runs the full length of the screen

Hey EVERYONE w/ a 4s!! We all know that the CDT hasn't come out w/ a JB yet. PLEASE stop ending every freakin' comment or opinion with "... but they haven't come out w/ a JB for 4s yet!" or "... but i can't get/do/buy or whatever, because I have a 4s and they haven't come out w/ a JB yet!" WE KNOW!!! Stop whining! YOU are the one that chose to get a 4s, knowing full well that there wasn't a JB for it, and the CDT had been saying months before the new phone came out, that a JB was going to take time, and please be patient. The whining is WAY passed the annoying level and isn't going to make a JB magically appear. GOT IT?!?!?!?????
