The iPhone may be one of the world's most popular smartphones, but that apparently doesn't translate to all of its owners being equally as "smart" as the phone. Case in point: Jerome Taylor, who discovered during this holiday weekend that the iPhone makes a terrible "weapon" with which to rob an Indian restaurant in Connecticut.

An incredible story widely reported over the Christmas holiday, Taylor donned a mask and entered the dining facility through a service entrance where he proceeded to demand money from the staff in back. Trying to pass off his iPhone as a gun, Taylor's efforts were thwarted when the cooks whipped out a fleet of kitchen knives and refused to give in to the demands for cash.
Surrounded by butcher-knife-wielding chefs, Taylor immediately backpedaled and revealed he was carrying the Apple smartphone, not a pistol. He went on to apologize repeatedly and admitted that he was in a tight spot and needed money for his child.

According to MSNBC, the restaurant staff "said they felt bad for Taylor and didn't want police to pursue charges." Authorities, however, showed little holiday spirit toward Taylor, who was promptly charged with interfering with police, first-degree criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery and criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.
