  • iPhone Robber May Need Real Life 'Jailbreak'

The iPhone may be one of the world's most popular smartphones, but that apparently doesn't translate to all of its owners being equally as "smart" as the phone. Case in point: Jerome Taylor, who discovered during this holiday weekend that the iPhone makes a terrible "weapon" with which to rob an Indian restaurant in Connecticut.

An incredible story widely reported over the Christmas holiday, Taylor donned a mask and entered the dining facility through a service entrance where he proceeded to demand money from the staff in back. Trying to pass off his iPhone as a gun, Taylor's efforts were thwarted when the cooks whipped out a fleet of kitchen knives and refused to give in to the demands for cash.
Surrounded by butcher-knife-wielding chefs, Taylor immediately backpedaled and revealed he was carrying the Apple smartphone, not a pistol. He went on to apologize repeatedly and admitted that he was in a tight spot and needed money for his child.

According to MSNBC, the restaurant staff "said they felt bad for Taylor and didn't want police to pursue charges." Authorities, however, showed little holiday spirit toward Taylor, who was promptly charged with interfering with police, first-degree criminal attempt to commit first-degree robbery and criminal attempt to commit sixth-degree larceny.

What can I say? He's an idiot who never thought of selling his iPhone or other unneeded items to buy his child presents. Show sympathy for him? It's like showing sympathy to a criminal who just killed someone close to you.

At least the kid was nice enough to not want to actually hurt anyone. He may have made a bad choice, but I bet everyone here has got behind the wheel while drunk.. I bet the kid is embarrassed.. Now, if the kid doesn't wake up after his year or 2 in jail and probation, he's worthless.

Clearly he's not smart enough for a mcdonalds job because even ppl that work realize it's better to have a job instead of using Ur iPhone as a weapond lol. Dude if you can afford an 700$ phone then afford paying the months bill which is 70$ (for me). I can't even finish my sentence this guy is so dumb. And the workers go cry me a river. I bet b4 they realized it was a phone they were all scared and trippen. Screw this guy.

How ironic that you use the handle of "hitman", and post that he should be prosecuted. I agree with what you're saying..... It just made me laugh.

That would be like me posting a comment about how jailbreakers should go to jail. ;-P

Which gun app did he use? Or did he pull the cartoon hold up with his iPhone under his shirt?

This is what I will never understand. Why steal money when you can get a part time, minimum wage job that in time will give you more money than robbing an Indian restaurant? If you're going to steal money, it'd better be enough to set you and your family for the rest of your lives(not that stealing is EVER ok), otherwise, it's pointless. This guy fails at life. People like that should not be allowed to reproduce.

Id have to go with you on this one. A good person would not resort to burglary. And he is definitely not a smart guy at all robbing a restuarant with an iPhone
