[Review] SmoothCoverFlow: Make iOS 5's Cover Flow Stop Lagging!
iPod Touch 4G (no SmoothCoverFlow) and iPhone 4 (with SmoothCoverFlow). See the difference!
SmoothCoverFlow is a new jailbreak tweak available for free in Cydia by the developer deVbug. SmoothCoverFlow is your solution to the laggy cover flow in iOS 5. Since the release of iOS 5, users have been complaining about how laggy the cover flow is. It seems like Apple just didn't care about it too much. They haven't released any updates since the iOS 5 beta to fix the issue and there doesn't appear to be any intentions to fix it in the near future.
If you are one of those people who is annoyed by the lagginess of iOS 5's cover flow, then check out this free tweak from Cydia. It will be as smooth as if you were on iOS 4 all over again. It really adds the fluency back into iOS 5 that was somehow lost in the update.
There are no settings to configure. Once you install SmoothCoverFlow, you will notice the smoother cover flow when you open the Music application and rotate your device into landscape orientation. Cover flow is Apple's way of simplifying the way that you find your music. Cover flow is existent on all iOS devices as well as on multiple functions of a Mac.
From my experience, SmoothCoverFlow does a great job killing the lag. The video in this thread that I filmed of my two iDevices proves how it eliminates it. I love this tweak so far.
