Report Claims India to Get iPhone 4S on November 25th
So far Apple hasn’t confirmed a release date for the iPhone 4S in India, but a new report by the Times of India claims that date could be very soon.
The Times of India is reporting Airtel and Aircel—Apple’s partnered carriers—will launch the iPhone 4S “as soon as the clock strikes 00:01 on November 25.” This past Friday Airtel even announced on its Facebook page that the company would be launching the iPhone 4S “soon.”
The November 25th release for Indian consumers would be a marked improvement over previous Apple launches. The iPhone 4 didn’t reach India until May 27th 2011, a whole 10 months after the U.S. launch. Airtel, and Aircel still haven’t disclosed what the pricing of the iPhone 4 will be, but is expected to land between Rs 35,000 and Rs 45,000. Both companies will likely offer “reverse subsidy” plans to customers as well. These plans have the potential for the customer to recover 100% of the cost of the phone over the contract period.
Apple’s launch of iPhone 4 in multiple countries has been unprecedentedly quick. The phone is currently available in 44 countries and China and India aren’t even included in that number yet. Apple’s production capabilities and ever improving supply chain continue to bolster the company's bottom line. Look for the 4th quarter earnings report to blow analysts estimates out of the water.
