    This OS X and Windows guide will teach you how to jailbreak various devices using JailbreakMe.com. Note this is an UNTETHERED JAILBREAK, meaning your device will be able to restart and operate just like an unjailbroken phone.

    This guide should be used with the following device/firmware combination (if you're not sure, here's how to find your iOS firmware version and how to find your iOS device type):
    • iPad 2 | 4.3.3
    • iPad 1 | 4.3 - 4.3.3
    • iPhone 3GS | 4.3 - 4.3.3
    • iPhone 4 | 4.3 - 4.3.3
    • iPhone 4 (CDMA) | 4.2.6 - 4.2.7
    • iPod touch 4G | 4.3 - 4.3.3
    • iPod touch 3G | 4.3, iOS 4.3.2, iOS 4.3.3 (not iOS 4.3.1)

    This is by far the easiest jailbreak ever. Open Safari on your device and visit jailbreakme.com. Tap FREE underneath the Cydia icon, and tap again to install.



    Cydia will begin to install on your device, just as if you'd downloaded it through the AppStore.



    That's it! You're now holding a jailbroken device. Not too bad, eh?

      No shsh needed since 5.0.1 is the latest firmware. Simply restore to 5.0.1 in iTunes. After that you can use the appropriate tool to jailbreak each one.

      Redsnow 0.9.10b4 should work for both.

      Thanks Simon. In My case I have an JB iPad 2 (4.3.3). I guess I'll need to update Itunes from 10.2.12 to latest Ver, and upgrade ipad to 5.0.1. Then JB using Absinthe version 0.2. Then reinstall all the stuff I'll lose when I upgrade to 5.0.1. Is their a need to Back up before starting all of this? If so I did not see an option in the iTunes ver I currently have.

      Everytime you sync itunes should do a backup for you.

      There is no such thing as a white ipod touch 3g. the only white ipod touch is the 4g (im assuming that this is what you have), and 5.0.1 can be jailbroken using 0.9.10b4. This is untethered which means the device can be turned off and on without a computer. (Untethered is the good kind )

      True that. Although the advice is the same for jailbreaking it.

      The latest redsn0w shouldn't ask for an ipsw.

      Ok so I have an iPod touch2g 4.2.1 and like I can't get it to jailbreak. Is there a way I can downgrade my iPod.

      You can jailbreak it on 4.2.1. Is it a MC model or MB model?

      if jailbreakme slider doesnt work, go to settings>safari>turn on javascript.
      then go back to jailbreakme.com and voila

      Can someone please update jailbreakme.com? I have an iPod Touch 4G 8GB running 5.0.1 and tried to jailbreak it through jailbreakme.com, and it didn't work. It just says your device isn't supported. So, could someone please update that website so that I can jailbreak my iPod?

      Please stick to one thread. I already answered ya question. It can't be don't on 5.0 and probally wont be gitting updated. Just use redsnow to jailbreak. It's very easy we are here to help if needed
