  • Determining your iOS Device's Current Firmware Version

    In order to jailbreak your device (and occasionally for other reasons) you'll need to know your device's firmware version. Here's a simple guide to do so.

    Open Settings.app on your iDevice, and tap General.



    Tap About.



    Your firmware version is listed where it says Version.



    That's it!

      what if you can turn your iphone on and you need to jail break it again, how can you know which ios you have on it?

      my iphone was jailbroken so if i turn the phone off the jailbreak would be gone and it would be back to the standard iphone, i had done a update with cydia which had caused me to restart the jail break, then i had remembered i would lose the jailbreak when the phone restarted, since then i have tried to jail break my iphone using red snow and ios 5.0. but the phone does not turn on, the pineapple sign comes on when im jail breaking the phone, then the phone comes up with the loading signing and it stays there

      Where can I post for some assistance on my A1303 3G iPhone When it was booting up I saw it had 4.3.5 (8L1) Now all I get is a loop to attach it to a computer, then it says to restore it, BUT it seems to shut off and re-boots before iTunes can do its work,, I am new here and will read more on the site, my phone is 2nd hand and never jail broken as far as I know.. Thanks for any help.

      I have a 16GB 3GS. I just found out it has the old bootrom.
      Is that a good thing? If so, how?

      You can jailbreak untether any firmware with the old bootrom

      Hi I need help Please. I got an iphone 3g from someone and went in and reset it to delete all their stuff out of the phone. After I hit reset the phone froze on the apple logo I googled how to fix that and got itunes to recognize and restore but half way threw the restore error code 1015 came up and when I googled the code its talking about jailbreaking. On this website it asks what firmware I am using to start the jailbreak. I dont know what firmware because I cant get into the phone. Will the jailbreak even help ? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks !

      Just do a complete restore. Get into DFU mode and go into iTunes and just restore. If you don't want to jailbreak, don't worry. From there it will just update to the latest version of iOS.
