Analyst States iPad 3 Is Headed Into Production
With the iPhone 4S being the big buzz of the week, the iPhone 4S rumors are now dead as the real product has been announced and released, now in the hands of consumers globally. The rumors of the next version are already heating up and the rumors of the next iteration of the iPad are going strong too. Jeff Fidacaro, an analyst from Susquehanna is claiming that sources in the supply chain are mentioning that the iPad 3 is headed into production.
Fidacaro is stating that supply chain checks suggest that production numbers for the iPad are ramping up for Q4. That is expected though as Apple is probably on route to gear up for a heavy holiday sales season as always. The production numbers are said to be climbing to 12 to 14 million units - up from 11 to 13 million. The analyst expects that Apple will ship about 13 million iPads in Q4. This is excellent news for Apple as it will probably result in more sales than before, bad news for those who would purchase Apple products and try to resell them for some extra quick cash.
The increase in production is claimed to be partly due to an early run of the iPad 3, which is expected to be released at some point in Q2 2012. Fidacaro told AllThingsD
that he has been seeing 600,000 to 1 million iPad 3 builds in the current supply chain.
The iPad 2 was unveiled back in March 2011 so a refresh is expected to be released next March. Many people have already mentioned waiting out for the iPad 3 as it doesnít seem so far away to them. I personally donít know what to expect from Apple as they recently introduced the iPhone 4S several months after its expected release. It is quite possible that the release of the iPhone 4S being delayed to October may result in a delay for future Apple iOS device refreshes.
