  • Back Up Blobs From Your Device with iSHSHit

There's a new alternative for backing up your SHSH blobs that allows you to save your own copy in addition to the one on Cydia. iSHSHit is a new tweak that still uses the Cydia On-File service by default, but also gives you the option to email your SHSH blobs to any address you choose. Best of all, it can be run directly from your phone, rather than requiring you to use a program like TinyUmbrella.

It's about as easy to use as possible: all you really need to do is to verify the information that pops up on your screen is correct and tap Save. After it's finished downloading the SHSHs, go to Manage SHSH and tap the version you want to save locally. This takes you to a blank mail message with the blobs already attached. Address it to yourself and/or any other account you want and you're good to go.

Given that future untethered jailbreaks are pretty much all expected to need earlier SHSHs to work, having a quick and easy way to make sure your blobs are backed up is key. This tool gets the job done with no fuss.

Does anybody else suddenly feel the need to "SHSHit"? :-/

Anyway.....its about time something like this arrived. I knew there had to be an easier way to get this done without tiny umbrella.

@Bender Ya, but only if you already have 4.0 SHSH on file with cydia.

Because it isnt about what firmware you are on, it is about what firmware Apple is signing. See here for clarification: All about SHSH

      3 reasons:

      1. You can restore/downgrade to an exploitale firmware and jailbreak to this older firmware (ex. 4.1)

      2. Sometimes applications such as Sn0wbreeze, Redsn0w, and PwnageTool require you to be already jailbroken on an older firmware, so you can update and jailbreak at the same time. (with sn0wbreeze etc.)

      3. (not 100% sure, my assumption)
Custom firmwares may be installed with the tools listed above, with new firmware features and old firmware security. The saved SHSH tells iTunes that it is a 'legit' firmware, even though it isn't any apple firmware at all.

seems like a cool program, but if you have to restore and to bypass apples server its still easier to use tinyumbrella than to change the Host file so most people will still have tinyumbrella on there computer. I know i do and I have then backed up already on my computer via tinyumbrella and on cydia. I dont see a need for this really.

clearly you didn't read the latest release notes for tinyumbrella, you only need to hook your device up one time in TU, it saves the information and you can automatically download all other SHSH blobs by just opening it and saving them. no need to connect your phone. If you do what everyone says and let cydia save them. then there is honestly no need for this app. not only does Cydia have them, but keeps grabbing all FW from there on out. Semaphore and Saurik have made this as idiot proof as possible.
