  • Siri On iPhone 4

Siri has been successfully ported to A4 devices. iPhone 4 above.

A BIG THANKS TO CHRISTIAN HEUSINGER, THE DEVELOPER OF IREALSMS, HE WAS A PRIMARY PERSON IN THE PORTING OF SIRI.

Turn your attention to the new YouTube video (the third one down). Siri is no longer laggy and fully supports the iPhone 4's GPU. At this point in time, Siri is almost fully functional although devs need to find a way to trick Apple's servers into allowing the iPhone 4 to use Siri. Currently, Siri requires a call home to Apple's servers to verify the device. The iPhone 4S passes the test, however the iPhone 4 will be recognized as an incompatible device. Devs are working hard to find a way to make Siri fully functional on an iPhone 4. Stay tuned!

Just a little while ago, iH8sn0w tweeted on Twitter that Siri does not require an A5 processor to work. That being said, it will work on any of the A4 devices that you already own prior to buying the iPhone 4S.

iH8sn0w also retweeted the original tweet containing the screenshot in the header of this article which adds legitimacy to the whole ideal.

Also, below are some videos of Siri on an iPhone 4. You can tell it's an iPhone 4 by the look of the antenna. It is a GSM iPhone 4.

EDIT: The developers behind this awesome port have managed to accelerate the speed of Siri on the iPhone 4:

Siri is a voice function for the iPhone 4S that allows the user to ask questions of all sorts and be answered back with intelligent responses. Siri does not handle well with accents and is not a perfect system. It's currently in beta for the iPhone 4S Apple promised to roll out more and more support with upcoming iPhone updates including more languages and functions. It was recent news that iH8sn0w and his buddy Gojohnnyboi were working on porting Siri to older A4 devices. iPhone hackers warned that it would be impossible to do this without piracy. So if you're brave and don't care too much about the boundaries of the law (not that I support this sort of behavior, because that would be barbaric!), then perhaps you will be able to try out Siri on your jailbroken A4 device very soon. For obvious reasons I will not be providing links or guides for doing this. But following iH8sn0w on Twitter may guide in you in the right direction.

The current version of Siri on the iPhone 4 is still immature, but is capable of recognizing spoken commands. It probably won't be released until the kinks are worked out so give it some time. Currently, devs are working on getting Siri on the iPhone 4 to correctly authenticate with Apple's servers, which only allow for Siri to work on the iPhone 4S. This will take time. Be patient. At this point in time, the Siri project is private and has not been released onto Cydia nor is there any way to download it, but be assured that it will likely be out soon, so stay tuned!

Please make donations to these wonderful people if you have some spare change! They work hard to make sure we get the best out of our devices.

Can't wait for this to go public! I'll probably never use it, but it's still cool

Kind of pointless to have this if you need Apple's servers to use it. If Apple finds out and can detect it I'm sure they can block certain people from accessing the Siri servers.

Its easier than that...they just have to block all iPhone4s...done. I think this still has a long way to go for it to be worth JB for.

If it slows down my phone that much I don't want it

It doesn't. Did you watch the new video that I posted?

Personally i dont think siri is that much big a deal. Just the idea of talking to your phone in public is just weird is all. But paying a few extra bucks for that wouldnt sound bad at all.

I think that this may slow down my phone. Or how much size potentially this program will take? There must be another reason besides processing power that Apple wouldn't bring it to the iPhone 4 users. I'll wait till iOS 5 matures.

So far i'm not that impressed with siri. It has been unable to connect to the network most of the time that I've tried it, which is probably just att or apple user overload. The functionality isn't quite as cool as what I thought it would be. For example, it seems to have a lot of trouble getting emails correct so you have to edit them anyway. For any shopping, food, bars, etc it just relies on a list from yelp that you can't filter or change without actually manually going to the yelp app. I'm sure I'll find what it's good for and not good for but I wouldn't use an upgrade specifically for it. It's cool technology but it will probably take a few years to really be awesome. so far setting the alarm clock was the most "fun" I've had with it.

I'm very excited about this and also very grateful for the hard work these devs guys put into making these things possible for us. I will do my best to donate.

The main reason apple wouldn't bring this to iPhone 4 users is that the majority of people upgrading aren't paying attention to processor speed or graphics upgrades. Most people are drawn to shiny new things we can see. Most people who have ip4's wouldn't upgrade if Siri were available to them. Thats just my opinion of course.

That's exactly the reason. I know because I asked Siri.

When you ask Siri that, it says, "no comment."

It's funny when someone mentions warez and disguises it as "porting". We accept that word but ignore what we're really doing. lol What a bunch of hypocrites we all really are. Next time some dopey kid mentions warez in a thread and a bunch of you clowns jump on him about it just link this article. Apparently this form of stealing is "ok" with everyone, but the more obvious kind isn't. If Apple considers this as theft then why don't we? That's all we're really doing when we "port" (take something we're not allowed to and put it somewhere else) something. ugh. smh

This will never happen on an iphone 4 for many reasons. A lot of the Dev team are already saying this wont be released. I think you guys need to calm down a bit, You have to remember this is a big marketing point for the 4s and apple will do everything in there power to stop this on so many levels.

You will not see a public release of this on an iphone 4
