  • Siri On iPhone 4

Siri has been successfully ported to A4 devices. iPhone 4 above.

A BIG THANKS TO CHRISTIAN HEUSINGER, THE DEVELOPER OF IREALSMS, HE WAS A PRIMARY PERSON IN THE PORTING OF SIRI.

Turn your attention to the new YouTube video (the third one down). Siri is no longer laggy and fully supports the iPhone 4's GPU. At this point in time, Siri is almost fully functional although devs need to find a way to trick Apple's servers into allowing the iPhone 4 to use Siri. Currently, Siri requires a call home to Apple's servers to verify the device. The iPhone 4S passes the test, however the iPhone 4 will be recognized as an incompatible device. Devs are working hard to find a way to make Siri fully functional on an iPhone 4. Stay tuned!

Just a little while ago, iH8sn0w tweeted on Twitter that Siri does not require an A5 processor to work. That being said, it will work on any of the A4 devices that you already own prior to buying the iPhone 4S.

iH8sn0w also retweeted the original tweet containing the screenshot in the header of this article which adds legitimacy to the whole ideal.

Also, below are some videos of Siri on an iPhone 4. You can tell it's an iPhone 4 by the look of the antenna. It is a GSM iPhone 4.

EDIT: The developers behind this awesome port have managed to accelerate the speed of Siri on the iPhone 4:

Siri is a voice function for the iPhone 4S that allows the user to ask questions of all sorts and be answered back with intelligent responses. Siri does not handle well with accents and is not a perfect system. It's currently in beta for the iPhone 4S Apple promised to roll out more and more support with upcoming iPhone updates including more languages and functions. It was recent news that iH8sn0w and his buddy Gojohnnyboi were working on porting Siri to older A4 devices. iPhone hackers warned that it would be impossible to do this without piracy. So if you're brave and don't care too much about the boundaries of the law (not that I support this sort of behavior, because that would be barbaric!), then perhaps you will be able to try out Siri on your jailbroken A4 device very soon. For obvious reasons I will not be providing links or guides for doing this. But following iH8sn0w on Twitter may guide in you in the right direction.

The current version of Siri on the iPhone 4 is still immature, but is capable of recognizing spoken commands. It probably won't be released until the kinks are worked out so give it some time. Currently, devs are working on getting Siri on the iPhone 4 to correctly authenticate with Apple's servers, which only allow for Siri to work on the iPhone 4S. This will take time. Be patient. At this point in time, the Siri project is private and has not been released onto Cydia nor is there any way to download it, but be assured that it will likely be out soon, so stay tuned!

Please make donations to these wonderful people if you have some spare change! They work hard to make sure we get the best out of our devices.

Below, are some screenshots of the project, by Christian Heusinger (Compliments of Josh Tucker):

You will not see a public release of this on an iphone 4

A few peeps on twitter stated it would be piracy if it was ported over. So doubt you will see it, on here any way.

Isn't jailbreaking a form of porting? This whole idea of altering an iPhone to be better than it's originally meant to be is a form of "stealing". I think of it more like improving. It's an innovation. So making Siri work on an iPhone 4 is in lock step with the idea behind JB'ing. It's a grey area. If it's a matter of conscience or piece of mind thinking you're not doing something wrong, I'm sure we will all come up with a way to justify ourselves doing these things. I like better iPhones and free apps and cool tweaks. It's fun to play with these toys. Why feel guilty about altering something you're paying through the nose for anyway?

Piracy or not it will be out and here as well. Perfect example is the IOS 5 Cydia Apps Update post that shows all the newly updated tweaks and ********** 4 and ********** are listed. Why do you think that is?

Again piracy or not here comes Siri on iPhone 4!!

BS! it is Siri cuz I still have the app on my i4 but no longer works cuz they took it away for the 4s and apple tries to make like it's NEW technology. It isn't that great and voice recognition for texting sucks. It did on the i4 and still does on the 4s (used it). I think it's hilarious that all these people lined up to get the 4s strictly for siri and never knew that others have had it for over a year (myself). So do a little research before saying "no, that was something else!" and if this modmyi app would allow me to upload this pic of the Siri app proving it I would but it's never allowed me to post pics over the app. You're totally one of those people dying to get the 4s simply for Siri, huh?

Before this thread gets out of hand, all I want to say is:

Think about all the sweat shops this company owns in other countries, then you should start thinking about 'porting' Siri to iPhone 4. Who cares if it's illegal, this company has monopolized this industry already. Before you start bashing people for pirating or what have you, think about the bigger picture of what this company does to their factory workers. This doesn't mean I'm advocating ********** because the people who develop those apps in the app store don't all work for Apple. That said, Apple pretty much blocked the iPhone 4 use of Siri solely for the purpose of forcing people to buy the 4S. If you think otherwise, you're definitely an ignorant fanboy who doesn't know anything going on in the social world. Open your eyes people, I'm definitely in support of this 'porting' of Siri to iPhone 4 no matter what it takes.

All you guys sweating Siri so much are noobs. Go get an iPhone 4S, and quit the weeping. I'm using Siri right now, Boo hoo for all the noobs with there previous iPhones. Siri is not the big of a deal at all... kind of lame and you have to be a really big herb to constantly use voice commands instead of just using the phone like a normal functional human being, you've been doing it all these years on previous devices. Yeah it's a cool feature.. personally I think it's best for accessibility for those who have a problem with seeing the screen or touching the device. Other than that you have to be a pretty big noob to sit there and only use voice.. it's kind of stupid and slow even on the 4S, so I can only imagine how slow it will be on the 4. Good luck noobs, I'm going to ask Siri if you'll ever have luck on the 4.

No you're simply wrong. Jailbreaking is not porting - makes no sense. It's simply enabling the device to run 3rd party applications.

NOOB NOOB NOOB - NOOB NOOB NOOB - SHAKE YOUR NOOBY, SHAKE YOUR NOOBY!

boo boo bee boo, noob shoes.
