  • Apple's Servers Slammed With Traffic Causing iOS 5 Internal Error For Many While Updating

    Twitter is blowing up with complaints of users not being able to update to iOS 5 because of an "Internal Error."

    Saurik tweeted:

    To anyone getting "An internal error occurred." (3200) while installing iOS 5.0, Apple's servers are swamped, and failing half the requests.
    The message appears to be popping up for users when installing iOS 5. We've reached out to Apple and so far they have no comment on the matter, but as Saurik tweeted Apple's servers "are swamped" and many users have remained unsuccessful after multiple tries. However a number of possible solutions appear to have popped up.

    Gvcayetano tweeted that he was able to update to iOS 5 after backing up his iPhone, rebooting his Mac, and then trying to restore his iPhone using the iOS 5 package.

    Another tweet by StephMurphyy claims to have solved the update problem by unchecking the "Sync Music" option in iTunes.

    Other users have had success simply restarting their phones and trying to update again. It appears Apple's servers are taking a beating by the demand. We haven't been able to confirm a solution for users across the board yet, but this does seem to be a wide-spread problem. New angry tweets keep popping up by the second, complaining about iOS 5 update problems. Right now the best advice is to keep trying.

      close every IP address for apple, then just open "127.0.0.1 gs.apple.com" after your done installing...i hope that helps
      When you say 'close' every IP address, do you mean delete them in terminal? If not, how?

      I Can't get iCloud running. I keep getting the "iCloud Backup Failed" message and so are a few members on MacRumors. Really annoying.

      iTunes gives me a message saying that my iPod could not be updated with an error code of 3002. I used the seperete IPSW for iOS 5.0 that I downloaded for my iPod touch 4g. Help?
      EDIT EDIT: It's working now. I put my iPod in DFU mode now it seems to be working.

      After 20 tries I finally updated my Ipod Touch 4 to IOS 5. Stupid me I shoulda done it on the first try.

      What I did was I uninstall the updated Itunes 10.5 on my pc. Then downloaded the new Itunes 10.5 again from apple.com. After I opened Itunes, plugged in my Ipod Touch and I clicked update to 5.0 and it went on its way. No errors thank god.

      Anyone else getting a 3194 error? I've tried to be patient as I've attempted to restore over 40+ times every which way I know how. I've even used multiple computers. As I understand the 3194 error is a server error. So maybe I'm being impatient. Anyone else still having trouble?


      @@@scratch that-- Tiny umbrella had me hosts file set to Cydia on exit.. I unchecked that box in the preferences tab.. Yes I feel like a dumbass.

      3194 can also be a hosts file issue. You need to make sure your hosts are pointed to Apple. If you have used tiny umbrella open it, click advanced, deselect the box that says "set hosts to cydia on exit". Then close tiny umbrella and try the restore again.

      Haha yup. Thanks for the info.. I feel like a goober now. And I call myself an intermediate iOS user.. Super fail. ..I'm sure my junior jailbreaker badge will be revoked after this little mix up

      At this point I don't think apple is the root of everyone's update issues. In my blog scouring I've run across half a dozen issues that all can be resolved pretty easily. Number one is the TSS server: If you've every used or installed Tiny Umbrella you need go find it and open it, Click the advanced tab and DESELECT running Cydia on exit. I spent a whole day bricking and restoring my iPhone 4 yesterday before thinking about it today and my phone is updating as I type with no issue thus far. Second is your firewall: Run iTunes diagnostics to make sure itunes has a secure connection to the itunes store. If not then go into your control panel-System Security-Windows Firewall-Advanced Settings, Click Inbound Rules and then Add New Rule. Select Program then browse Program Path and find and add itunes. Once this is done, re-run the iTunes diagnostics tool to verify that there is a secure connection to the iTunes store and try to update.
