  • Apple Begins Shipping iPhone 4S

    We've begun receiving word from readers that Apple has started shipping the iPhone 4S. Two screenshots provided to us by one reader come from UPS and Apple, respectively. From the looks of it, the device has been shipped by Apple and is out for delivery on October 14th.



    This tidbit comes on the heels of scant reports across Europe suggesting that the iPhone 4S has already arrived in some places. Specifically, a handful of customers in Germany report having their iPhone 4S delivered within the past 24 hours, well ahead of the anticipated Friday arrival.

    Per Apple's official unveiling of the device earlier this month, the official launch date of the iPhone 4S is this Friday, October 14th. At that time, not only will the device become available in stores, but devices preordered during the last week will also arrive. Unfortunately, however, if you're yet to place a preorder for the iPhone 4S, good luck acquiring one this Friday. Apple now pegs shipping times for new orders at 1 to 2 weeks.

    As MMi reported over the weekend, Apple saw 1 million sales of the iPhone 4S on its first day of preorder availability.

      i ordered mine from ATT at 4AM on Friday i will not be happy if it is not here on the 14th

      I ordered mine from att also and haven't got any tracking but it says on the site I should have it on the 14th. I don't know if this is normal for att or not. When I order my 4 from apple.com I got tracking... Hmmm..

      I ordered mine from Apple and it's still showing "Preparing for Shipment." Still indicates it will arrive on the 14th though.

      I ordered mines on the pre-order date as well, but mines still says "processering" better be here by the release date...highly doubt it though (order from Canada)

      Mine arrived in Kentucky this morning with UPS, ordered from Apple.

      I ordered with verizon at 12:01am PST and I got verbal confirmation of delivery by 7pm local time (MST for me) on the 14th. However, when I go on the website to check the status it says it will SHIP on the 14th NOT arrive.

      SO make sure you stay on top of what your confirmation e-mail says and make your provider stick to it!

      Yeah, you shouldn't have ordered from Verizon, they probably don't get their stock till the 14th, Apple has always shipped early to ensure delivery by release date. And good luck making your provider stick to it, they will probably tell you where to stick IT.

      I see this every year. If you got your order in the first batch and it didn't say "Shipping 1-2 weeks" then you'll get it on the 14th. Some carriers say ship the 14 others say deliver the 14 but as with past years they all get to the customer on the same day. They can only label and load so many units at a time so just because yours (and mine) says preparing for shipment or processing that just means it's in the huge pile waiting to have a label put on it.

      I ordered mine the second Apple's website was back on at 12:45am (PST) friday, it STILL says Processing Order for my iphone 4s 64gb black. (i'm in Canada)

      It's definitely hit or miss. I ordered 4 new 4s' on preorder. One for each line on my account. Xmas presents for spoiled teenagers. Anyway, Monday morning I got ship/tracking on one, late Monday night I got ship/tracking on another and I am still waiting for the other two. Both still say preparing to ship as of Tuesday at 345pm. Funny thing is one of the ones that shipped was the first one I ordered and the second one to ship was the third one that was ordered about 3 hours later than the first two. Did that make sense?

      Ordered mine through AT&T friday morning and it says backordered. Just got off the phone with them and they said it will be "shipping" on the 14th. I will not be preordering through them again.

      I got a email confirmation from Apple with tracking shipped by UPS. Leaving Hong Kong today and schedule to deliver 10/14. Looks good so forth.
