WSJ: Steve Jobs Funeral Taking Place Today
The Wall Street Journal has learned that Steve Jobs is being laid to rest today in what the publication calls a "small private gathering." The news of Jobs' funeral comes just two days after the iconic Apple boss passed away at the age of 56.
Citing the family's request for privacy in their time of mourning, the source would not add any details with regard to the location of the service. The family, however, has confirmed that there will be no subsequent public memorial for Steve Jobs.
On Wednesday, Apple CEO Tim Cook revealed in his first public comments following the word of Steve Jobs' passing that the company is actively "planning a celebration of Steve's extraordinary life," while not adding any further details.
Despite no planned public memorial service from Apple or the Jobs family as of this writing, Apple fans and Steve Jobs admirers from around the nation continue to make a pilgrimage to their nearest Apple stores, leaving flowers, cards, and other messages and keepsakes at makeshift displays erected to honor the late co-founder of the company that forever changed the landscape of modern consumer electronics.
