  • [EXCLUSIVE] AT&T One iPhone 4S Per Customer, No Commitment Pricing Found

Our AT&T sources have been illuminating a lot today, as it seems an iPhone 4S Training Session pdf made its rounds through AT&T's rep emails today. A couple more interesting bits of info came out just now - it seems AT&T stores will only be allowing one iPhone 4S per customer on launch day. No word yet on how many Apple will allow, although at the iPhone 4 launch you could get 2. This is similar to the past, but is confirmed for next Friday's launch as well now.

They also do not distinguish between upgrades, new phones, or no commitment pricing. Unless of course the doc is saying a user can get one of each - it's not clear.

The document also outlines the no commitment and early upgrade pricing for the iPhone 4S. It is pretty standard, with early upgrades being $250 over retail, and the no commitment pricing at $450 over retail. Plan on spending $649.99, $749.99, or $849.99 for the 16, 32, and 64GB models respectively for the iPhone 4S.

EDIT: Erica Sadun tells us AT&T is also texting people about the early upgrade $250 price difference.

We'll see you guys in line!

      Lol pass!

I could't justify dropping that amount with no commitment for an iPhone 4s to my fiancé.

Eh, $549 for the one I want, I am 100% sure I am just gonna wait for the next one. Not enough change for me to pay that much for early upgrade. Glad I didn't list my I4 for sale yet. As much as I like Iphone, I don't see how anyone can justify paying almost a grand for a phone. I think if the next one doesn't blow me away, I'll no longer be an Iphone fan, sad.

I went on the Apple website and talked to 2 different representatives thru the online chat. They both said the same thing to me: Each customer will be allowed to purchase 2 iPhone's...

They didn't confirm nor denied that the release would be at 12:01AM PST today...i guess we will find out!

      Apple.com:

The unlocked iPhone includes all the features of iPhone but without a contract commitment. You can activate and use it on the supported GSM wireless network of your choice, such as AT&T in the United States.* The unlocked iPhone 4 or iPhone 4S will not work with CDMA-based carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint.

If you don’t want a multiyear service contract or if you prefer to use a local carrier when traveling abroad, the unlocked iPhone is the best choice. It arrives without a micro-SIM card, so you’ll need an active micro-SIM card from any supported GSM carrier worldwide. To start using it, simply insert the micro-SIM card into the slot on your iPhone and turn it on by pressing and holding the On/Off button for a few seconds. Then follow the onscreen instructions to set up your iPhone.

The prices you see on Apple.com are identical to what you see on att.com. $449 is NOT no-commitment pricing, it is if you sign a new 2 year contract with AT&T.

The price you are seeing is the "early upgrade" price. If you are not eligible for an upgrade, they allow you to pay an early upgrade price in which you renew your 2-year agreement. No commitment price is the price you pay if you do not want to use an upgrade or renew a contract. For people on other networks such as T-Mobile(not supported, but is with unlock), or people who walk in the door and just buy it retail, this is the price they pay.

yes. look at the far right column "no commitment" those prices reflect a no contract/unlocked phone.

i think your misunderstanding the point of "CHECK ELIGIBILITY" its checking if your eligiibile for a two year data contract for the column one pricing... thats all. the price the quoted you is for for 2yr contract NOT for no commitment. NO commitment is for no contract/unlocked iphone.
