  • Apple Announces iOS 5 GM Release for Today (Oct. 4)

    The final pre-release of the iOS 5 beta will be released today as announced by Apple. The golden master, which is the final release before the official release will include most/all of the new features that we expect from iOS 5.

    Redsn0w 0.9.9b2 was released today, it will hopefully have support for the Golden master. We will continue to hope that it will eventually support an untethered jailbreak for the final release as jailbreak developers are working hard!

    iOS 5 was announced by Apple to be released on October 12th, two days before the iPhone 4S on October 14th. It is expected that iOS 5 will come pre-installed on the iPhone 4S.

    iCloud and Find My Friends are two new features that are also shipping on October 12th.

      If Siri was available for the "standard" 4, I think ATT & Verizon sales on the new 4S would be S#%!

      I'm sure it'll end up on Cydia. Seems they already stole the camera setting from Snappy. They rely heavily on the JB community so they can keep this form factor until a new refresh next year.

      It was a free app until recently so worked with iphone 4 even 3GS. At the time I tested it didn't work all that well. May try once again if improved.

      You know apple tends to hold features back if it could harm the user experience. Siri is now deeply integrated into the OS rather than in the sandbox, so Apple will probably require the A5 to use Siri.

      Even if the A4 is powerful enough to handle it smoothly, Apple needs some features for the relatively underwhelming 4S. I mean, they spent more time on Siri during the keynote than the rest of the 4S combined.
