  • iOS 4.2 Now Available : Not Ready For Jailbreak

Just as Paul had said early this morning, iOS 4.2 has now been greenlit to go live and is available for download to the public. Many iPad users will be excited for this, of course that is unless you require/love/need/want a jailbreak.

If your hoping to jump on the iOS 4.2 firmware, do not expect a jailbreak to be ready just yet. This may take a few weeks to a month, or even a day. What's important right now, is to stay on iOS 4.1 and make sure your SHSH Blobs are saved. This will ensure you can always preform a jailbreak on your device at this firmware version. If you do not want to lose your jailbreak, DO NOT UPDATE to iOS 4.2 yet. Pleas wait until official tools have been updated/released.

While the new features look great, be patient, and in time you will be able to upgrade. But for now, play safe, and stay away from that update.

Of course, we will let you know when a new tool surfaces to be used with iOS 4.2.

For those waiting for an unlock on iOS 4.1, this is good news, as you can bet there will be one shortly, now that iOS 4.2 is available.

Even though I REALLY want to upgrade, I think I'll stick to 4.1 for a while.

PS. Mobilesubstrate updated this morning, I would suppose that's for 4.2 support.

Ya I have been wary about pressing that reboot button for a while now. Much safer to reboot manually.

So far this is what I've got working
      No Lock Screen
      SBSettings
      MyOS
      PSX4all
      Wifi Analyzer
      gpsPhone
      LockInfo

Is is what I found out doesn't work
      No Spot
      Remove Recents

These dont work coz they need gsc.wildcat
      FullForce
      SwirlyMMS for iPad3G
      YourTube HD

As thats all the Cydia apps I install thats all I've tried on my iPad 3G.
As soon as MyOS is fixed so you can disable multitasking I will install backgrounder as thats better i think.

Edit: sorry SMS/tones you can change them to whatever you want with the app below but u can only change it one at a time

I dont get it.....as long as your jailbroken you can have any ringtone you want. Download directly from their server or make ringtones with any song you have in your iPod library. It's free, easy and available in Cydia been using for a long time now it's called UNLIMTONES

      Ciao!

If you are on 4.2 then downgrading will not help you unlock. What type of iphone do you have?

You may as well just jailbreak it with redsn0w 0.9.6b4 and wait for the unlock to come out tomorrow. No need to downgrade.

      You can use this guide:
