MacRumors has received information confirming a few of the rumors surrounding the new iPod Touch.
MacRumors' source confirmed that Apple would announce a new version of the iPod touch alongside the iPhone, but that the revision would include only minor changes to Apple’s iPod Touch. According to the source a new white iPod Touch will be the most significant change to the next generation of iPods. Outside of the new color-way an oleophobic coating for the display and a new ambient light sensor will be the only changes.
MacRumors’ information appears in contrast to some rumors that have floated around the Internet all year. Reports of a 3G-capable iPod Touch as well as a new tapered design—if MacRumors' source is accurate—appear inaccurate. However, Apple’s development history points to the possibility that iPod 3G prototypes exist, the recent MacBook Pro 3G fiasco proves as much.
Apple has yet to announce either a new iPod Touch or iPhone officially, and doesn't even have a date set on when to do so. The entire Apple Internet community knows they’re coming, we just don’t know the juicy details.
