With Apple's iPhone 5 release believed to be just weeks away, speculation has never been greater about the possible arrival of the touchscreen Apple smartphone reaching Sprint customers for the first time in the US this fall. But along with the iPhone's debut on Sprint, another popular Apple product may be on tap for Sprint: the iPad.
According to the latest industry chatter, the Sprint-compatible iPad is, indeed, ready for roll-out. And while no formal confirmation exists to suggest that the tablet will run on Sprint’s powerful 4G WiMAX network, more than a few Sprint employees have been told that it will.
TUAW’s Erica Sadun says Sprint Nextel sales associates are now being briefed on the looming arrival.
The associate also suggested that Sprint will carry a 4G iPad, though launch dates and pricing were still unknown. Of course, Sprint already sells 4G access for the iPad via its external mobile 4G WiFi product.
As we've been hearing for weeks, Sprint is reportedly angling to distinguish itself from its carrier competitors by offering its subscribers an unlimited data plan for the iPhone - something no longer offered by AT&T and Verizon.
