  • Apple Invites More to the iPhone Party, T-Mobile to Carry iPhone 5 This Fall Too

Today T-Mobile entered the rumor mill of purported iPhone 5 carriers this fall.

MacTrast is claiming a source of theirs informed them T-Mobile will be offering the new iPhone this fall alongside AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon. If so, it would mark the first time all four major U.S. carriers would offer the phone simultaneously. Also, it means the 1 million+ iPhone users that use an unlocked version of the phone on T-Mobile's network can finally go legit. If they want to.

The year-end Apple cocktail-party-for-all-our-phones-carriers (that doesn't exist) could be very awkward this year. AT&T would constantly be trying to slip Rohypnol into T-Mobile's drink, while Sprint tries be polite as Verizon asks them about their nationwide coverage, and how many people still use Nextel handsets. Sprint will key "Can you feed me now?" into the side of Verizon's car as they leave. An obvious jab at the considerable amount of weight the can-you-hear-me-now guy has gained.

Now it'll just be a matter of which carrier will offer the best plans, in my case which carrier will offer the unlimited data plan and will remain offering it. I just hope the carriers that jump on the bandwagon that will get the iPhone will not remove the unlimited plan as an option. You can't have an iPhone and not have unlimited data; there's just too much to do on the phone that 2GB just won't be enough.

wohoo if thats the case then i will be able to use it on iWireless which is a T-mobile affiliate and they use the same 3G bands. As of right now i dont have 3G which kinda blows. But my total per month for unlimited everything is 57.00 dollars. If i get 3G speeds then it will be 67 a month total after taxes. Either way i am sticking with iWireless! But i do miss 3G.

In the USA, you can run an unlocked iPhone 4 on T-Mobile, but you don't get 3G speeds. My brother uses it and I think he said it uses EDGE, but it's still faster then his old iPhone 3G speeds. It might just be the fact that the whole phone runs faster that makes it seem like the internet runs faster though.

Anyway, I'm happy the iPhone 5 will come to T-Mobile. I still have 1 year left on my plan and I'm using a crappy Nokia with an iPod Touch. So now I can get the iPhone 5 and have 1 less device in my pockets.

Since some members are being more literal about what does and does not constitute "PG-13," let's go with the "spirit of PG-13."

Keep the f-bombs and other expletives away from the discussion. Play nice, you have no rights. Thanks.

OT: More competition is (almost) always a good thing. Though adding T-Mo at this point may be silly, what with the acquisition being as far along as it is... wonder how long Sprint's unthrottled, uncapped 3G data lasts though.

Well it's about time that the iPhone is going to be available for the Big 4, even though I have a factory unlocked ip$, it will be awesome to get 3g or even 4g speed. Edge just stinks so bad.
