  • AndroidLock: Lock/Unlock your iPhone, Android Style

An Android phone features a unique lockscreen, where you have to connect various dots to unlock your phone rather than enter in a passcode or slide to unlock. There are 9 dots in total, and gives a little extra security just incase your friend happens to look over while you punch in your numbered code.

Just released to Rock and Cydia, comes AndroidLock, available now for free. This iPhone and iPod tweak will transform your iPhone lockscreen into an Android styled lockscreen where you connect dots in the same manner to unlock your phone. Simply draw the pattern to unlock.

After installing it, go to Settings > AndroidLock, to set the pattern. Requires 4 or more dots to be used.
On a side note, there were many discussions about the androids security flaws in their lockscreen method being hackable by a certain combination, however, my guess is there will be some sort of issue here, some way to get around it. We'll soon find out.

opened the file AndroidLockSettings in notepad, located in this folder (Thanks Koinonia)

      library>modbilesubstrate>
      -preferencebundles>androidlocksettings.bundle>...

it references a couple of other files... I'm no programmer and am self taught at modding the iphone so not sure if this will help... I'm trying to change the color of the ring, dots, and trace line...

in /Library/PreferenceBundles/AndroidLockSettings.bundle there is a file called AndroidLockSettings. i assume this is the one that was mentioned above with the different locations mentioned in it. also if you scroll to the bottom of the code you see

      __mh_bundle_header dyld_stub_binding_helper __dyld_func_lookup __ZL10CGRectMakeffff -[ChangePattern lockBarStartedTracking:] -[ChangePattern lockBarStoppedTracking:] -[ChangePattern lockBarUnlocked:] -[ChangePattern updateText] -[ChangePattern viewWillBecomeVisible:] -[ChangePattern specifiers] -[AndroidLockSettings donate:] -[AndroidLockSettings specifiers] -[LocalizedListController navigationTitle] -[ChangePattern dealloc] -[ChangePattern initForContentSize:] -[LocalizedListController localizeSpecifiers:] -[AndroidLockView freezeKnobInUnlockedPosition] -[AndroidLockView drawnPattern] -[AndroidLockView expectedPattern] -[AndroidLockView delegate] -[AndroidLockView setDelegate:] -[AndroidLockView setExpectedPattern:] -[AndroidLockView setDrawnPattern:] -[AndroidLockView touchesEnded:withEvent:] -[AndroidLockView touchesMoved:withEvent:] -[AndroidLockView touchesBegan:withEvent:] -[AndroidLockView dealloc] -[AndroidLockView checkTouch:] -[AndroidLockView init] -[AndroidLockView drawRect:] dyld__mh_dylib_header dyld_content_lazy_binder dyld_func_lookup_pointer _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_IVAR_.delegate _OBJC_IVAR_.drawnPattern _OBJC_IVAR_.expectedPattern _OBJC_IVAR_.lastTouchedDot _OBJC_IVAR_.patternDots _OBJC_IVAR_.patternDotsCount _OBJC_IVAR_.lockView _OBJC_IVAR_.plistFilename _OBJC_IVAR_.settings _OBJC_IVAR_.step _OBJC_IVAR_.textLabel _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _CGContextAddArc _CGContextAddLineToPoint _CGContextBeginPath _CGContextDrawPath _CGContextFillPath _CGContextMoveToPoint _CGContextSetLineJoin _CGContextSetLineWidth _CGContextSetRGBFillColor _CGContextSetRGBStrokeColor _CGContextStrokePath _NSHomeDirectory _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_CLASS_ _OBJC_IVAR_._specifiers _OBJC_IVAR_._title _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _OBJC_METACLASS_ _UIGraphicsGetCurrentContext ___CFConstantStringClassReference __objc_empty_cache __objc_empty_vtable _objc_enumerationMutation _objc_msgSend _objc_msgSendSuper2 _objc_msgSend_stret _objc_setProperty
which does mention things like color and pattern, but being that i'm not a developer of any sort, i have no clue what any of this means

Well here's what I got from the developer:

      Hi,
there are no images. Everything is drawn programmatically.
In the next version i'll add the possibility to customize the appeareance.

      - Zmaster
So unless you're a programmer... good luck customizing it for now.

this thing caused my phone to crash repeatedly. when it would momentarily start up, the icons were missing, so i couldnt open cydia to uninstall it. had a minor panick attack last night. it really doesnt play nice with cydialer. which is a pisser.

app works well for me, and is a nice mod to have, doesn't seem to play nice with Glovepod which i use constantly though so have had to uninstall till its made behind the "slide to unlock" screen (if it ever is)

Another feature that should be added is an ON/OFF toggle in settings.
This is why I won't be using it.

Everybody has situations where they want the security of a lockscreen...

and conversely, situations where you are in a secure location and don't need a lockscreen.

Install SBSettings and you can toggle it on/off using the MobileSubstrate options

This is cool but eats batteries for breakfast. I hardly used my phone and it was down to 35% by noon

Something else is leaking in your phone since I've been using it since it came out and battery has not been an issue. At all.

Decided to go ahead and install, I am enjoying it.

As said, needs to be transparent along with on/off switch.

Also, I notice when I get a picture message from a lock screen, obviously the slide to view is gone, so I have had to double tap home to bring up the music controls. From there, I can gesture the sequence, then go to messages. Little annoying.

EDIT: After docking, I just noticed that it also lays over the battery charging screen. Something else to look in to.

Love the lock feature on Androids. I'll give this a try next time I pop my sim from Nexus One to iPhone 3GS.

I love this lockscreen, so much better than having a passcode...

Only problem is I have a badass changing lockscreen that it covers up, so I was wondering if there was a way to change (theme) this lockscreen to remove the black background, if not make the whole thing mostly transparent???

If not then I REALLY hope they update it to either be transparent or to come up after you "slide to unlock". Either way it's a great little tweak, would be perfect with a few changes.

I like it! It sounds to me, though, that alot of you are forgetting this takes the place of the "slide to unlock" and not your passcode. I don't want to need to slide to unlock, use Androidlock, and then enter my passcode. As it stands now, once my phone is passcode locked, I have to enter my androidlock code, then my passcode. So yes, a phone call would bypass the slide to unlock as well... no?

that's not the issue at all. most of us just don't like how visually intrusive it is. it's a great idea and a great concept, but i theme my lockscreen because i want it to look how i like, not have a dark background with white dots. so it seems the majority of us would like to see this modded to be at least mostly transparent, if not completely. you could still drag your finger across the pattern you set it on and have it operate the same. just not loose the look of your lockscreen doing so.
