  • Schematic of Reported iPhone 5 Case Turns Up Online

If the folks at MobileFun are correct in their assertions, what you're looking at above is an image (a schematic, to be exact) of a forthcoming iPhone 5 case. If accurate in its design, perhaps we can deduce a few interesting things about the look of the next-generation Apple iPhone.

As previously rumored, the case design pictured above reflects a new, more curved back for the iPhone 5 - not unlike the moderately curved back on the second-generation iPad. Also apparent from the above design is the long-standing suspicion that the refreshed iPhone will bring with it an edge-to-edge screen.

As always, we take these reports with a grain of salt. Still, more and more evidence is mounting to suggest that the iPhone 5 design will not be an almost spot-on match to to the iPhone 4 design as initially and widely rumored.

As MMi reported yesterday, all the latest insider accounts confirm that the iPhone 5 will make its market debut in September, although an August announcement and demonstration of the 5th generation device by Apple isn't out of the question by a long-shot.

Remember a while back when apple higher the creator of web OSs notification system they could be going with a gesture based maybe small touch screen or button in place of the home button.

You do realize that the retina screen is simply high pixel density. Theoretically the same pixel density can be achieved with AMOLED.

I sincerely hope this is not the newly designed iphone. I hate the curved back thing, and I would hope they would not go back to the same old 3G+3GS form. I really like the thing being, and not wasting that space that you have to round off on the all four sides of the back.

JMO, But here's hoping this one is just another bogus picture

i agree! why would Apple go back to the 3G/3GS design ? Thats taking a step backwards in my eyes. I prefer the IPhone 4 design more too. It differs from all the other phones on the market.

"Retina" is just Apples buzz word for high pixel density.

You can have "Retina" LCD, AMOLED, Plasma, CRT

NO!! I bet apple will never dare to kill the home button to make it touch button.
That's what all competitor is dying for.
Try using other touch devices with no home. Button.
      It's a pain in ***
I got so bored using same iPhone for so many years, so decided to try other top of the line android monkey and hate them so much.
Main problem was that you have to touch the power button then come down to home screen to slide their stupid gesture to unlock the screen.
With I phone I do it with one single thumb.
Just press the home button with thumb and same thumb slides the unlocker.
I threw all the devices back on best buy face and got back to my my iPhone.
      Wow what a relief.
So I bet and pray apple will never kill home button.

This would be design regression for Apple. That's not their bag baby!

The iphone 5 would have to have some very good features as a trade-off for taking me back to the curved back design. If it does have a curved back I will get an iphone 4 instead unless it shits rainbows.

So there's plenty of comments about the home button... but why hasn't anyone mentioned the thing that appears to be an SD card slot?
