Well, at least Apple will have enough room to throw a pretty snazzy holiday party this year.

According to local news sources out West, Apple's homestead is growing once more. You see, the new facility Apple recently secured permission to build from the Cupertino city council (see MMi's coverage of the "spaceship campus" Apple is building) won't be ready for almost four more years. In the world of Apple, that's an eternity. Given the breakneck pace at which the company is growing, Apple needs more office space... now.

Consequently, the San Jose Mercury News is out this morning with word that the tech giant is leasing an office structure/facility (one that consists of some nine separate office buildings) in Cupertino. The space is roughly 373,000 square feet and able to accommodate well over 1,000 employees.

"This is all good news for the city," Kelly Kline, Cupertino's city economic development manager, tells San Jose Mercury News. "Apple is the premier corporation in Cupertino." But, Kline adds, the place may not exactly be move-in ready - at least not in terms of Apple's highs standards. "I would expect some renovation work will be done there before Apple moves in," Kline said.
