First iPad 3 Component Image Reportedly Leaked From Inside Asian Supply Chain
A supposed iPad 3 component leak is generating substantial buzz today. Assuming the image is legitimate, we may be enjoying our first glimpse at part of a third-generation Apple tablet that will debut sometime within the next eight months (although a small number of analysts believe a late 2011 launch is still possible).
The image above appears to be that of a component with a numeric label of "821-1259." In case you're wondering, the source of the image is the Apple news-centric Taiwanese forum Apple.pro - a site with a fairly credible track record of leaking images of Apple product components well in advance of their market release.
Unfortunately, these images come without much information attached - likely the result of Apple's staunch crack-down on leaks. All we can deduce (kind of) from these images and the apparent numbering of the components is that the iPad 3 will also be available in both black and white - hardly a groundbreaking revelation.
Nonetheless, given that the iPad 2 is still a relatively recent product release for Apple, there are low expectations for a major design overhaul and new bells and whistles for the iPad 3. The biggest hype surrounding new attributes for the third generation tablet focuses on screen resolution.
reported June 15th, the iPad 3ís display is expected to double to 2048x1536. This will dramatically bolster the total number of pixels onscreen giving it a pixel density of 264ppi. Although it wouldn't be quite as stunning as Retina display, the improvement over the current model would still be significant.
