  • Foxconn Attempting to Remain Sole iPad 3 Manufacturer

Earlier this year it was rumored Pegatron Technology would share manufacturing orders for Apple's next iPad with Foxconn.

    Foxconn no like.

According to Digitimes, Foxconn is actively trying to persuade Apple into signing a new deal that would make Foxconn the sole manufacturer of the next iPad. Foxconn's success has gone hand-in-hand with the success of their largest client, Apple, and the company apparently guards that relationship like a jealous boyfriend.

However, Apple from a business standpoint usually isn't too keen on exposing themeselves to a single a manufacturer for a product. Relying too heavily on one manufacturer means there is no competition for your business, thereby driving up cost, as well as exposing Apple to any Foxconn production problems (example: this year's early shortage of iPad 2s).

For Apple to remain with Foxconn as the single manufacturer of their next iPads Foxconn must be bringing a pretty sweet deal to the table. Or they've become powerful enough to dictate terms to Apple. The latter seems highly unlikely.

As long as they can make enough for the initial launch... or I can pre-order... I don't care who makes it.

It stands to reason that it would be in Apple's best interest to have a second or third manufacturer on a second or third continent. Any more info on the rumored Brazil manufacturing location?

Foxconn will no doubt exploit their employees even further to keep up with demand of new products for Apple as to not have a repeat of the iPad 2 shortages.

      How about:
More companies = more production capacity = less pressure = happier workers and consumers = less suicides and shorter wait times.

Having more companies producing iPads or whatever would put less of a strain on a single company (Foxconn) and therefore less of a strain on the employees, so hopefully less suicides.

More companies more competitions and cheaper build cost for the product, but only if
Apple reflects all these to the buying customers, else it only benefits Apple's revenue.
      More companies = more suicides is really kind of true as well;
      more companies = more employees
      more employees = more production
more production = less demands (supply vs demand)
less demands = more job lost or less OT and income (for developing countries OT is vital)
after all, no job or money leads to pressure on life, end result is usually ugly.

I rather work more hours and earn more money but less enjoy my life than work less
earn less and with less money to think of ways to enjoy life and pass time.
