iTunes Connect Reportedly Going Down for Maintenance Today
If iTunes Connect goes down today, there's no need to panic. It looks as though the iTunes Connect platform is poised to undergo scheduled maintenance - at least that's what we're hearing from more than a few developers who have reported email notifications announcing the maintenance window.
According to the notifications referenced, the maintenance window is just for today, Wednesday, July 13 from 9 am to 4 pm Pacific. "During this time," the note to developers reads, "iTunes Connect will still be available. However, pricing changes made between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. PDT will cause the app to become unavailable for purchase until maintenance is complete, at which point the app will become available at the new price. To avoid interruptions to the availability of your apps, do not make price changes during this time."
Also adding to the heaping pile of inconvenience is that customers will likely be shut out from any app purchases in Mexico, U.K., Australia, Switzerland, Japan and Norway during the scheduled maintenance period.
News of today's reported iTunes Connect maintenance comes on the heels of recent troubles and connection problems cited by users of the Mac App Store, iTunes Store, and the App Store. Clearly, Apple will be best served by a well-functioning app storefront by the time Mac OS X Lion debuts before the end of this month. It appears that today's upkeep and repair work is meant to work out all the bugs and kinks that could impair a smooth demand-filled launch for Lion.
