Mac OS X Lion GM Seeded To Developers
With the rumors of an imanent release of OS X Lion in the coming weeks, and today being the first day of July, it's no surprise that Apple has now seeded the Gold Master Release Candidate of OS X Lion.
There are some reports that certain devs are having trouble downloading the new release, they've been getting a "We'll be back soon" message, leaving them unable to try the (supposedly) final beta release before public launch sometime this month.
We reported yesterday that the most likely date for public release is Tuesday, July 19, which could also be the release date for the revamped MacBook Air. There is a separate set of reports that say Lion may be released as early as July 6, a Wednesday, which is a common day for software updates, but uncommon for hardware releases, which are usually done on Tuesdays. It seems Apple will have to decide whether to stick to a different day for Hardware or software release.
We'll keep you updated with any changes we notice in the latest build. Devs should be able to download from Apple now, if you're still having trouble check back again a bit later.
