  • Android Ported to iPhone 3G - Ready

Had enough Android excitement yet? Of course not. Following up on the Froyo release yesterday, we've got the no less vital news that the iPhone 3G port of Android is now ready to download and install. Having shown off Google's OS running on a 3G two weeks ago, author David Wang has clearly had to iron out a few kinks before serving up the necessary binaries, but here they are now, replete with a handy install guide he's penned over at PC World. Time to get yourself on the dual-booting bandwagon, no?

admin edit: How did we miss this? I know this is like... a WEEK late now, but I'm putting it on the front page - still good stuff. OP posted a few days back, I'll change it to be current. Whoops, sorry folks.

Good to know 3.1.3 works. PlanetBeing himself said you had to be on 3.1.2 or lower.

I'll put a note in my guide about that.

There is a new program for mac called iphodroid that will automate the Install For Droid on iphone 3g -only- Its kinda a teatherd Boot process for android so You cannot mess up your Boot lace, I have tested it myself and It worked great I used a vm mac 10.5.5 ran with no problem you'll need open ssh on your device And Libusb on your mac in order for it to work

How do you get this working? I installed it, boot into Android and it keeps crashing if I press VOL UP. It also has no signal and no touch. So far there is no sound but as I cant do anything I'm not sure if its suppose to have sound yet.

What should I set the CHMOD at? All are at 0755 is this right? I read somewhere else it should be at 4777 but it did the same when I set it to that.

In a world that apparently doesn't, iPhone 3G does.

I would like to know that too....I am messing with my wifes android pulse and installing updates and custom roms so I am wondering if it means I would be able to put it on iphone then install custom roms...
Just had a quick look on idroidproject.org and though the developers are running 2.1 android update on there iphones I dont think it is stable enough to install but then its not even stable on android soooo methinks I will wait a little longer,as I am awaiting a stable release of 2.1 for the android pulse, which by far a greatly improved rom as I am thinking the 0.2 is the very basics of android .... or am I mistaken?

Ok guys. May seem like a noob here. But I have been looking for a while so here it goes.

Got an iPhone 3g. My dad has a mac. On iptf(the worst forum ever. It said iphondroid was dualbootable). So did it and all. Got android. And was like. WTF. Where's dualbootable. Held the home and power button till screen went off. Turned on iPhone. And I went back to regular iPhone os.

But my question is. If I do it the long way. Is it dualbootable?
