BTIG Research has conducted a three-week survey spanning 250 AT&T and Verizon stores and have concluded that the iPhone is the top selling phone at both companies. During the research, they asked all the respective stores what their top selling phone is. Their results are the following:
51% of the Verizon stores surveyed said that the iPhone was the top seller while 38% stated that the iPhone was tied with Android (mostly Samsung Droid Charge and HTC Thunderbolt).
At AT&T, 65% said iPhone was their number one seller and only 31% said Android. AT&T is in a little different situation as it has had the iPhone 4 for nearly a year while Verizon has only had it for about 5 months.
So in conclusion, 58% of both companies (AT&T and Verizon) stated that the iPhone was number one while only 20% said the iPhone was tied with Android.
A handful of stores at AT&T oddly enough said that RIM's Blackberry and Windows Phone were top sellers despite RIM's many issues and Window's low market share.
With the release of iOS 5 and the iPhone 5 coming out this year, it should bump up the share of users from both AT&T and Verizon.
