  • Attachment Saver - Save Mail.app Attachments

    Ever been frustrated by the iPhone Mail app's inability to view attachments of certain types? Ever been found yourself needing to save an attachment to disk somewhere so you could use it outside Mail.app? AttachmentSaver to the rescue.

    AttachmenSaver is a nifty little extension to the iPhone's Mail app that allows you to save attachments so you can access and view them using your favorite file manager (iFile recommended). It unlocks the ability to download *all* attachments of any type, whether supported by Mail or not, and save them into a folder on disk. For those emails with multiple attachments, it even conveniently provides the option to save all attachments in that particular email, accessible via the action menu in the toolbar (the one that usually contains the Reply/Forward buttons).

    It's in the Cydia store now at $1.99, a decent buy. Pick it up!

      Does anyone know of an app that will save attachments to iDISK

      It would be the most useful way of keeping documents in sync

      That's a feature of the cydia app store.

      In all seriousness, these apps would be sooo much more useful if they could integrate with applications. For example, to be able to save an mp3 and it show up in your iPhone's music library, or to save a ringtone and have it show up in your ringtones list. I think you guys get the idea. Is this possible? Should I even get my hopes up?

      they are in .m4r format correct?
      make sure they have the right permissions

      owner=root
      group=admin

      User= read, write
      Group= read, write
      World= read

      if all else fails, you can try this (however I don't recommend). CAUTION: YOU CAN SERIOUSLY F UP YOUR PHONE IF YOU DONT KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING. IF YOU ARE NOT COMFORTABLE WITH DOING A FULL RESTORE DO NOT TRY THIS. Navigate to /system/library/coreservices/springboard.app/. Look for the file that says ring.caf. rename that to ring.caf.bak. Now, copy desired ringer to this folder and rename it to ring.caf If this does not solve your problem I don't know what will. You may try rebooting your phone. Again, don't modify the filesystem entries unless you are comfortable with a full restore.

      You can either SSH into your phone using winscp, or use a file manager for the iphone like ifile. There are a bunch of guides here about ssh'ing and navigation the iphone filesystem
