  • Connection Issues Cropping up for Verizon 3G iPad 2 Users

Reports are surfacing that some iPad 2 owners using Verizon's 3G network seem to be having difficulties connecting to the network. So far the problem seems to be isolated to the 3G model iPad 2. Wi-Fi models do not appear to be affected by this problem as these models do not connect to Verizon's 3G wireless network anyway. Thankfully, this problem does not seem to be affecting any AT&T users.

In a statement to Mobilized “We are aware that a small number of iPad 2 customers have experienced connectivity issues with the Verizon 3G network and we are investigating it,” the company said.

Currently, there are six pages concerning this issue on Apple's discussion forums. Most users reported having similar experiences trying to solve the issue. One user stated, “I spent over an hour at Verizon talking to apple on the phone.” While another user reported, “After spending 4 hours on the phone, I took my Ipad2 to the Apple store on 5th Ave in NYC. After demonstating (sic) the problem to them, they researched for a bit and gave me a new one.” This customer later reported that the same problem occurred on the replacement unit as well.

If you happen to be one of those unfortunate enough to be affected by this problem, a workaround is being reported on multiple forums that seems to overcome the issue. Under settings, simply make sure that your 3G connection is enabled, and restart your iPad. The 3G connection should be reenabled and you should be connected to the Verizon network as soon as you are finished booting up. It's unfortunate that users must restart their devices in order to reactivate their cellular data connection. Apple is expected to release an iOS update within the next two weeks. It's unclear what issues this update will address, but hopefully there'll be a fix in it for Verizon customers.

I guess At&t network really is better than Verizon's.

Why am I not surprised to see Verizon failing on this one?
In my honest opinion, this the way I see it:

      AT&T > Verizon

Every other device Verizon has on their network seems to be fine. Now a few iPads have a problem and you really think the problem is with Verizon? Get serious!

Well let's see, two iPad models on two different carriers. Now, if AT&T's model is working properly and Verizon's model is not then there's no way it's the iPad because if that were true then AT&T's model would be affected as well but that's not the case. Common sense leads me that Verizon is in fact the problem. Also it's not, "a few" it's "all of them".
      YOU NEED TO GET SERIOUS.
      Verizon sucks; enough said.

Yes of course but either way, that's Verizon's part and it failed.

Why would anyone want to business with Verizon when they make it company policy to lie to thei customers. They tell everyone they will only have to wait two elks to get their iPad 2 when they know the wait is at least 4 weeks.

Lol... The problem must be the CDMA chipset. If every other 3G device on Verizon is working great and it's just the iPad that's having issues how could anyone point to Verizon as being at fault. Apple designed the hardware... It's their device failing while every other device on the network is fine.

Well there was a girl that was in line with me that got a 64gb Verizon model and she could never successfully activate a service plan to enable 3G with Verizon. Also on a side note there was a guy from the previous day that has screen issues on a Verizon model. One half was black while the other half was ok. Sounds like the Verizon iPad 2 models sucks.

Was it necessary to state the WIFI iPads didn't have a problem with Verizon's 3G network just to have to say it didn't matter because the wifi iPads don't have 3G?

Not sure how the screen issue applies to Verizon, AT&T or just a Wifi model, your post makes it sound like Verizon is building it themselves.
