I called Apple today and they told me that the Iphone will be available for purchase online and over the phone from them directly, and the price is going to be $499 4gb and $599 8gb. The guy also said that they will begin taking phone orders for the iphone at 6AM PST on the 29th.
And no student discounts either

so you can use your sims in other phones. for example you are going to a concert, you dont want to risk your iphone being damaged but you need a phone, pop out the sim throw it in another phone and you're good to go. Further by law a carrier has to let you unlock your phone . . . course that isn't enforced/in effect yet
lol the purpose of a sim card is not solely to make it usable by other carriers... just because it has a sim card doesnt mean it SHOULD be unlocked, for those of us who will stick with AT&T we can pop our sim card into another phone in the event of our current phone busting out on us
Well atleast they are offering an online purchase option. That'll beat standing in line, and can probably activate at the same time. Only prob is have to wait until the phone is shipped.

After buying an iPhone I won't have enough money for some other phone for concert
i have a crap load of phones now i have a almost new sync that i use a my "getting down and dirty" phone. i have a "work" phone(8525/blackjack) a going out phone (pearl) and my "mr. u cant get a phone i like mine" phone (V3x) and those are on the ones i use lol. i love working in wireless
