  • Easily Downgrade From 1.1.1 (Windows)
Nate True and his team have incorporated the downgrade from 1.1.1 to 1.0.2 into their latest version of iBrickr click to download

Unfortunately this DOES NOT unbrick phones that where unlocked before the upgrade . . . .

Sorry mac users, this is for the windows guys.

edit: no this doesn't unlock your phone

The only thing it doesn't do is upgrade / downgrade your BaseBand.
cool, thanks for the info. I'm not worried about the bb since I use at&t anyway.

So in a nutshell, in all our haste to upgrade this fone NO one has figured out how to clone the original baseband and dump it like they did with the unlock. Now that makes no technical sense.....

I'm really sorry if this sounds like a dumb question but what is Baseband and why would it be important to downgrade it?

Thanks in advance for your detailed responses.

Maybe this question could be moved into another thread or its own thread if it's too off-topic for this one.

Why would anyone want to downgrade now that 1.1.1 has been jailbreaked (jailbroken?)

Shortly all the apps will be ported over to 1.1.1 and you will have all the benefits of 1.1.1 and 1.0.2

Is there anything about 1.0.2 that is better?

Baseband, I guess is a techy term for the iPhone modem. It's what lets your iPhone be a phone. It's important to downgrade, because an iPhone cannot be unlocked (currently) after it has been updated to version 1.1.1; even if you then downgrade back to 1.0.2. This is because downgrading from 1.1.1 back to 1.0.2 does not downgrade the modem firmware (baseband). So the phone can't be unlocked.

Unlocking simply means the iPhone can be used with carriers other than AT&T.

      That good enough?

I assume that I can use a windows computer to do the downgrade and it will still work on a mac. Am I correct?

Alrighty, i just downgraded using the new ibrickr and finished it up and went to applications to install installer.app then gives me an error saying "iphoneinterface.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience."

then it just sits there frozen

After you get your iphone back to 1.0.2 with iBrickr (v09), try using iBrickr v(08) to load all your apps.
