  • 1.1.1 could be about to go down
It looks like the dev team is up to something. I have been following them over at IRC and it looks like Mobile Safari on both the touch and the iPhone are suffering from a one year old TIFF exploit.

Basically, opening a carefully crafted TIFF image will crash mobile safari, causing a buffer overflow and allow for arbitrary code execution. This same exploit was used more than 1.5 years ago to crack the PSP firmware.

    UPDATE:
Ladies And Gentlemen, it looks like we have code execution. Hooray!!

yes my iphone is 1.1.1 base (i think, but doesn't matter anyways), so right from the start, i downgraded the firmware to 1.0.2, after that everything went smoothly

smoothly as in you were able to downgrade the baseband and use the phone capabilities as well?

Last night, iPhone hackers "dinopio" and "Edgan" brought 1.1.1 hacking into a new arena. By using symbolic links before doing a 1.1.1 upgrade, they were able to gain access to the entire 1.1.1 file tree. Read more about it at

Make sure you have itunes 7.4.3, because I tried it a million times with 7.4.2 and had no luck, then updated my itunes and it worked fine the first time. =)

I think I read on Hackint0sh that if you upgrade, then downgrade, an unlock won't work..
      Not confirmed though...

      Sorry dude.

So, once 1.1.1 is jailbreaked will we lose all our mods when we update from 1.0.2 or will there be a way to keep them all intact??
