Firmware 1.1.1 was released today. Features include:

Space bar double-tap shortcut to intelligently insert period and space
Mail attachments are viewable in portrait and landscape
Stocks and cities in Stocks and Weather can be re-ordered
Apple Bluetooth Headset battery status in the Status Bar
    Support for TV Out
Preference to turn off EDGE/GPRS when roaming internationally
    New Passcode lock time intervals
    Adjustable alert volume

If you are the owner of an unlocked iPhone, DO NOT UPDATE until we have a viable solution for either relocking and then unlocking after the update, or doing the update without bricking your iPhone. Updating an unlocked iPhone currently WILL BRICK your iPhone.

    The Basics:
    • If you have an unlocked phone, but are using AT&T, updating will NOT brick your iPhone, but you will have to get a new SIM card, as the iPhone will display an incorrect SIM message.
    • If you have an unlocked iPhone, and are running a carrier OTHER than AT&T, updating will NOT brick your iPhone, but it WILL relock your iPhone, and no existing methods will unlock again, so DON'T UPDATE YET.
    • If you have an iPhone LOCKED TO AT&T still, updating your iPhone will work fine. If you have installed 3rd party apps, they will be gone, and no existing methods will reinstall them.
    • No, the developers of the software modding apps have NOT updated their apps within the past 2 hours. When they do you will be notified with a new News story.

Your the one with a phone stuck at 1.1.1. Just cause i'm stuck too doesn't mean i'm going first. I don't think it'll work anyways. I think it checks the packaging...but worth a shot

HOLY NO PROFANITY!! i just read this entire thread and my head hurts, there was 36 pages when i started and 41 pages now. Im of the opinion that whoever updated their iphone without consulting the same sources that made them want to mod their iphone in the first place deserve whatever they get. Im just talkin here, but i got my iphone and read everything i could find on the best way to mod it and get the things i wanted(graphics, ringtones, games ,etc..) Then i modded the hell out of it. Then when iTunes said "hello, new firmware" That gave me pause, and i will admit my sphincter tightened just a bit, but i immediately took a handful of xanax and relaxed because i knew that all the sources that instructed me on how to make my iphone a faithful and dependable companion would have good advice on how to proceed, and they did in the first 2 or 3 pages of this monster posing as a thread. the rest was just comic relief. Im not offering any advice. Im just saying that the people who updated, without asking themselves any questions, even if it was just "Ive really screwed around with my phone, should i....", should deal with the outcome. If you have a brick..oops. If you have a semi-brick...oops oops. If you have a "returned to stock iphone" put the f$^%%6ing thing in your pocket and go about your business. Your lucky you have a working phone. All you can do is wait for new hacks. They either will or they wont come out. All i am saying is have the nuts, or tits, whichever the case may be, to deal with the consequences of your decision. If you updated on accident then take your phone and put it back in the box because you have no business screwin with anything technical anyway. Good Luck to the rest of you, im sticking with my hacked phone.

apple is playing dirty, "oh yeah were not going to start a war against 3rd party apps" says apple, but they turn around and stab their loyal customers in the back with a rusty knife

my iphone is up for trade or sale.
      does that say violation?
wow, apple is looking at a lawsuit if they are reading data from phones, they have no right to obtain any info from my phone via there dumba$$ itunes.

It might work, I may just try it to get people to shut up. I think that itunes looks at the naming scheme. I'll see what happens. hold on for 5 min.

Nope, not worth it at this point. Freaking NES is worth more than itues on your phone. forget the update. I'm going to take this back and see if I can get one with 1.0.2 still on it.
