For those of you who had trouble with the putty crashing

I also had this problem and just fixed it.
(windows)
I was using dropBear SSH server.
I removed the server and installed the openSSH server from Installer.app
then I reinstalled by BSD Subsystem (through installer.app)
Restarted the phone.
Waited about 2 minutes to be sure that the SSH server was started (you probably don't have to wait but it seemed to work for me)
Then connected through putty with no problems.

Be sure that you're using port 22 and it is not being forwarded to anywhere else with your router.

I've managed to run the iUnlock and the bbupdater -v worked for me!
i'm having a few problems with the minicom but hopefully if i try it enough times it will work.

Is anyone having any problems with the minicom? It opens for me and the screen that comes up is correct but i can't seem to enter commands.

If I just hit Enter then the letter M appears on the screen.
I'm typing alt-Enter for the enter command and it seems to work but the only response i'm getting is

"RROR"

if anyone has any insights i'd love to hear them. i've never dealt with minicom before.

yeh i get this too.

-sh: minicom: command not found

You need to do minicom -s.

if minicom is not found then it's 1 of 3 things

1. you didn't copy the minicom executable into your /usr/bin directory
2. you are not in your /usr/bin directory
3. you didn't chmod your minicom (this one would actually give you a permission denied error, but i thought i should put it in anyways)

the command is:
chmod 755 minicom

i'm retrying everything including the iUnlock to see if that makes any difference

FYI guys, the .no site is lackin a couple tidbits...
when I ran "launchctl unload -w /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.CommCenter.plist" I got an error of "no such process" and my unlock still worked.
Also, and much more confusing...
There is more to running minicom. run minicom then hit ctrl+a then z to see the menu. there will be an option that you must select eluding to connecting modem etc THEN you will get "AT S7=45 S0=0 L1 V1 X4 &c1 E1 Q0
OK"
then follow the directions.
I almost did backflips when my bars went full and "T-Mobile" appeared on my phone after completing the hack (my Tmob SIM was already in).
**** At&T. I hated using them years ago before switching to TMobile, and I hated them more after being forced to via iPhone. I guessed the service quality was improved in the time I didn't use service, but not a friggin bit. I can't maintain calls in my house in ******* St Paul in the middle of the city with AT&T. On top of this, you will easily pay 15-25% more for the SAME and LESSER QUALITY service than with TMobile.
The nightmare is over. I am so pleased that I am whistling dixie out my *******.

Sorry, but I used Fugu on a Mac. When you are running minicom, can you hit control and a then z or t to get different menus?

The unlock.no site only has a tutorial for PC with iBricker. Can I get a working Mac tutorial please? Im sitting here with 2 new iPhones and Im ready to unlock em. I spent 8 days in this forum now without any success... hehe

For those of you using windows (putty) and the http://iphone.unlock.no guide i just learned something very valuable

in minicom (without the -s)

for anything to register you have to hit alt-Enter
but the problem i had is that you actually have to hit
*************
"RIGHT-ALT"+ENTER

this will make the commands register in minicom
if you see 'RROR' or 'ERROR' it means you're hitting 'LEFT_ALT'
if you just see the letter 'M' it means that you're not holding down ALT

when i type in minicom it says:

minicom: WARNING: configuration file not found, using defaults
minicom: cannot open /dev/modem: No such file or directory

So what do I need to do. What am I doing wrong? I put the minicom file into the bin folder so whats happening?

i get stuck using putty.. it always gives me a network error message i cannot log on what do i do i have followed every step up to the point where it says type in ur host (ip adreess)it doesnt connect? am i missing something? is my router blocking it can anybody help?
