  • I am now running a Cingular SIM in my iPhone!
Don't know if this is posted anywhere else. But...

We can now use Cingular 64k SIM cards and other AT&T SIMs in the iPhone! No need for the AT&T SIM it comes with any more!

Details to follow! I will have a write up on this. I'm pulling another all nighter here. Thank you iPhone development crew and iZsh!

I almost went this route, but my big concern was that after the upcoming firmware update, my older SIM would no longer be recognized.

When I got my iPhone (on iDay 6/29) the FIRST thing I did was switch out the SIM and put my old Cingular SIM in. I did this cuz I am on a family plan and was afraid of messing it up.

The iPhone worked just fine.. The only noticeable issue, was visual voicemail did not work. A quick call to 611 got it resolved. It has been running great ever since.

I did notice the stock iPhone SIM does have a big 3G logo on it, hmmm......

Ok so the good thing about this is that you do not have to sign up for the iphone data package. Am i right? Cause i had unlimited text and internet for 20 bucks cheaper. and if thats the case i can just do this and take that package off. Or has anyone already taken those packages of the account and still had a functioning iphone? THanks
