The nav buttons are on the bottom, and the other controls are on the top:

Sounds as though the browser is going to use just the actual viewing area of the screen rather than the whole screen. When you put a 320x480 wallpaper on the iPhone you will probably see atleast 100 pixels chopped off (those menus look pretty big, top and bottom together) same as you do with most of the Motos and other phones that have menu bars. On alot of my older wallpapers I used to leave a blank space at the bottom since it was covered by the menu bar anyways.

So making a wall at 320x396 the iPhone would try to stretch it to the default height of 480 but the browser must be coded just to display the 396 pixel height.

      Hopefully that made sense...

as far as wallpaper goes though it appears only on the home screen which is nearly full view it seems

What I can gather so far about the wallpapers is that although the screen calls for a height of 480 pixels, the actual viewing size is only about 354 pixels high; so we're losing quite a bit of the wallpaper, if both menus are present on the screen. That's taking into account both the top and bottom menu bars. So unless modded, we'll never see a full sized wallpaper at it's 480 pixel height.

Maybe when viewing through Safari they add in another menu bar, ontop of what is already there, or some other graphic that the screen utilizes or is necessary for navigation or some of function that becomes part of the screen. Will be interesting to actually get one and start playing with this sort of things, among the hundreds of other things that will keep us all very busy *lol*.

for web apps because of the browser address bar at top and the buttons on the bottom, but basic wallapaer only apears on the first screen as far as i can tell

so the only loss of pixels would be in the drm line on the top

Despite the fact that we had a bit of trouble with the latest iPhone update, some users are reporting drastically improved WiFi reception and camera performance since installing v1.0.2. Although Apple didn't exactly go into detail about what "bug fixes" were being addressed, a number of posters on various forums are apparently thrilled with the boost in WiFi reception and the "vast improvement in the camera's live video update." Of course, it's very possible that these betterments are simply due to differing circumstances in use before and after the update, so we'll leave it up you: have you noticed any drastic meliorations since the update, or is this stuff just all in our head?

Is it just me, or do all of this guy's posts seem off topic and quoted from other sites?
