Actually i used the same software to unlock my iphone using windows. all you have to do is to access that file, thru command prompt. then just follows the steps and your good to go. good luck...

most of the third party application wont run on 1.1.4 firmware. but thier is a patch for it, that you can install 1.1.3 on your 1.1.4 iphone.

      Hi,

I am fairly new to this forum and was hoping I could get some instructions/help.

I have a 1.0.2 iphone (3.9BL) software unlocked (do not know which one). I want to upgrade to a 1.1.4 jailbroken and unlocked phone. Could anyone give me some basic step by step guidelines to follow.

I have been searching through so many forums and sites and spend a lot of time but could not find anything concise, just bits and pieces from various replies.

I tried to start the process from what I read here, but when i connect my iphone and load iTunes and press Shift+Restore it opens an windows dialog box ??? No clue what to do from here onwards.

Could somebody help me with the steps. I shall be very thankful !!!

      Scenario Particulars:
      • Apple MacBook, latest version of operating system/updates (Leopard 10.5.2)
      • Latest version of iTunes
      • Day One iPhone w/3.9BL, v1.1.3 with the latest Baseband and Unlock'd to run on T-Mobile (T-Mobile SIM installed the entire time.)

      Steps Followed:
      1. Used iTunes to Synch/Backup the iPhone, before beginning
      2. Once synched and backed up:
      3. Restored to v1.1.4 using iTunes
      4. Once restored to v1.1.4, closed iTunes
    2. Downloaded "ZiPhone-1.1.4_by_JBLP.zip" (a modified version of ZiPhone) from this link right here.
    3. Unzipped downloaded file, and executed "./ziphone -a -j" to Activate, Jailbreak and install the Installer application. NOTE: This process took about one (1) minute to complete.
    4. Set "Auto Lock" to never in Settings.
    5. Configured / Established Wi-Fi access.
    6. Installed requisite software packages:
    7. Launched Installer application and refreshed "Sources" to ensure most recent applications.
    8. Once "Sources" successfully refreshed, applied any/all available "Updates" and exited Installer application, to ensure updates applied.
    9. Re-Launched Installer application and confirmed no additional updates were available.
    10. Installed BSD Subsystem and exited Installer application, to ensure updates applied.
    11. Re-Launched Installer application and confirmed BSD Subsystem is installed and that no additional updates were available.
    12. Added http://installer.iClarified.com to "Sources" and relaunched the Installer application, to installation/updates applied.
    13. Re-Launched Installer application and refreshed "Sources" to confirm that the iClarified source is installed and that no additional updates were available.
  • Unlocked the iPhone, for use on networks other than the Death Star.
  • Launched Installer application and the 'iClarified" folder from the Install tab/page
  • Installed "Unlock (1.1.4) application. NOTE: During this process, I received a popup asking me which Wi-Fi network to join. I simply selected my Wi-Fi network (the one previously setup in step #6 above) and the process completed without issue. This process took about five (5) minutes to complete.
  • Exited Installed application and rebooted phone.

Scenario Results:

iPhone Particulars:
  • Network = T-Mobile (USA)
  • Version = 1.1.4 (4A102)
  • Modem Firmware = 04.04.05_G
  • IMEI = correct
  • iTunes = recognizes phone w/correct version. Synchs without issue.
  • 190.5 MB of "Other" prior to any synching/restoration of data
  • Telephone = fully functional, unlocked and running T-Mobile
  • SMS = fully functional
  • YouTube = full functional
  • Maps / Locate Me = fully functional
  • Internet / Safari = fully functional
  • Weather = fully functional
  • Stocks = fully functional
  • Ringtones = fully functional
  • E-Mail = fully functional

  • There is a little redundancy built-in, if you read/follow each step as outlined, but I consider this to be a good thing as it errors on the side of caution.

As always, I hope this helps more than it hurts!
I just follow step by step and works like charm

    thanks

I was able to get around the youtube error "Cannot access youtube" after using "Do it all" on ZiPhone 2.5.

Since I'm an AT&T customer, I really don't have to activate or unlock. I instead did the just the jailbreak and youtube worked (woo hoo), but being the nerd that I am I did want my phone unlocked, so I went back to ZiPhone 2.5 and under the advanced features just checked unlock and it worked! And youtube still works! I didn't try activate but if you're on another carrier you might want to try jailbreaking then under advanaced features use the unlock and activate.

Hope this helps some frustrated people out there.

mmh, that is very interesting that doing them "out of order" that it may as well fix things. Weird, but whatever works.

I did the "Do it all" and everything works fine. No problems, no mail crashing, YouTube, SMS, everything works perfect like a charm.

      Thanks a lot gilprado.

      Guys,

I looked up a few videos on youtube which seemed to have lesser steps : [ame="http://youtube.com/watch?v=U5U_0qJ5mkQ"]YouTube - ZiPhone 2.4 GUI33 Complete Walkthrough[/ame]

      I had a question on this :
Do you think with my version software unlocked 1.0.2 (3.9BL) needs to be virginized before I do a restore to 1.1.4 ?

Does that/would that make any difference (as some say that software unlocks for 1.0.2 were not too clean) or does restoring through iTunes automatically reset/clean any issues with 1.0.2 software unlock ?

      Thanks again !

Ok, so I've downloaded the file, opened the folder and before I was using all of my brain power, stared the app directly from the file instead of copying it to my hard drive. I read in the read me file to not do this because it won't work. when downloading the firmware it looked as tough it was stuck so I force quit it. I'm sure this was the absolutely smartest thing that I could do and reopened it from the dmg and copied it to my hard drive and opened it from there. seemed to be working fine, but instead of it trying to download the firmware when I ask it to jailbreak it, it immediately tries to create a RAM disk and fails saying "couldn't extract firmware file contents." I've tried deleting the app and its folder and the dmg and downloading it again, and I've tried restoring my iphone.

Sorry for the epic post, but got any suggestions?

You don't want to install Installer via independence. Use this method to install Installer via Fugu. Worked like a charm and installer works!

Nope. It checks for 1.1.3 and then fails.
