Grab you copy of Independence 1.4b5 and have some fun .

edit for those of you that can't figure out how to install installer

    Get it here http://repository.apptapp.com/packag.../Installer.zip
Use Independence to install installer and ssh
SSH into your phone and issue the following commands:
    chmod 777 /Applications
    chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app
    chmod 777 /Applications/Installer.app/Installer

Used iNdependence 1.4 beta 5, OS X Tiger, Bootloader 3.9 and it was able to activate and jailbreak. Followed these instructions to get Installer via Fuju. Easy! YouTube works! Didn't need to install any fix.

EDGE not currently working...patches only for 1.1.3

Hi. I have a specific question about my iPhone. I'm new, so I appreciate all help. I have an iPhone that was running 1.0.2. I was unlocked and jailbroken so I could run T-Mobile on it. I updated it to 1.1.4 via Independence. I was able to Jailbreak it and activate it. When I tried to unlock it for my TMobile sim, the program ran fine, but the phone doesn't pick up the TMobile card now. Can someone help me with this?

      Thanks so much!

Odd, when I tried "locate me" right after I unlocked it worked fine but now its just "spinning" indefinitely.

I used independence as well and did 'SIM unlock'. After it was successful the iPhone took about 10 minutes before the T-Mobile signal was picked up.

I finally got my YouTube to work. I used "youtube activation" and tried resetting the network settings. That made the sound work again. I reinstalled youtube activation and reset all settings. Then I had to do a hard restart to finally make it work. 1.1.4 firmware, 04.04.05 modem firmware, unlocked and jailbroken, and EVERYTHING works!

Activated, jailbraked and unlocked it succesfully. Dit it via Independence
Installed Installer.app via independence, but can't install anything. Everytime I try to install anything, I'll get "Main script execution failed!".

Dit it on a iPhone (OTB 1.1.2) wiht 1.1.4 FW, modem FW 04.02.13_G.

Anyone else having the same problem?

You both should have used this method to install Installer. Worked like a charm

here's the way i did it.. and it worked flawlessly... i had a 1.1.3 unlocked with bl 3.9 and the 1.1.3 modem firmware.. i did a RESTORE (not update) to 1.1.4 from itunes... then i used indepence to "activate and jailbreak" 1.1.4.. but i didn't unlock it with independence.. then i ssh'd installer (which was very simple to do).. after i had installer.. i added the "iClarified.com" source and used their unlock 1.1.4 app.. and it worked flawless.. now i have a 1.1.4 unlocked and jailbroken.. with tmobile.. and EVERYTHING works great... itunes is functional, edge works.. volume is fine.. all is well...

i think the key is not to "upgrade" to 1.1.4.. instead you have to "restore" to it..

      -sP

oh.. by the way.. doing it the way i did it.. i didn't have to do any extra steps to get youtube or anything else to work...

oh and just incase you were wondering.. by doing it this way, i wound up with the 04.04.05_G modem firmware (which means "locate" feature works)

I believe I followed all the instructions. Independence appears to have worked correctly and my iphone shows jailbroken & activated. SSH was installed and (I thought) the Installer app was installed (the icon shows and it runs), but every application I try to install results in the "Main Execution Script Failure" error. When I connect via SSH (see? it did install) and open a terminal session there is no Applications directory. There are no basic unix binary files (ls, mkdir, etc.) in any of the directories I can access so I can't even list the directories. all I get is the basic stripped bash shell (as sh) and the ability to chmod and cd around but there appear to be very few files in the directory structure. Any idea how I recover from this and get my filesystem back?

Did I mention that other than this, all the normal functions of my iPhone seem to work fine? I can sync and move files with iTunes, etc., make and receive calls and SMS, and access the net from wifi and EDGE. I just don't have any files and I can't install any files via Installer or via SFTP (it starts and fails when it tries to stat the directory because ls isn't available).

I had to restart my iphone a couple times, then I stopped getting those errors.
