  • AppSnapp Updates - easier jailbreaking and upgrades

AppSnapp, everyone's favorite jailbreak site to date, has polished their service today with a few major upgrades.

Per their site, here's the new features:
    • Updated! 2/1/08 Installs Installer.app v3.0 on the iPhone/iPod Touch with Community Sources preinstalled.
pf update: this does NOT install OkToPrep as they say it does - careful!
    • New! 2/1/08 Reduced footprint and optimized for speed. We got rid of over 700KB of data and optimized the new application with the new toolchain.
    • Fixed! 2/1/08 Now removes root.zip and youtube.zip (if present) from the root to make space for more music/apps.
    • Fixed! 2/1/08 Fixed reliability issues and .svn/__MACOSX directory creation.

    Rock on, fellers, much obliged.

perhaps the oktoprep will only work properly if you install BSD subsystems before attempting to continue with updating to 1.1.2

dont have time to verify right now, but i would try that if i was attempting this.

Incorrect. You do NOT need bsd on a 111 jailbroken phone to oktoprep and go to 112. I know this for a FACT, I've done this 40 times at least.

As far as this new improved jailbreakme.com it does NOT install oktoprep. I do not know why they are advertising this feature when it clearly is not there. Many people are wasting lots of time having to downgrade back to 111 to do this the original way.

yeah, i can also say that it did not install oktoprep and also the community sources that it advertised. I tried it about a twice before i just decided to install the oktoprep by myself. It would have been nice if it worked, but just small inconvenience.

did you install it manually or install it through installer?

Okay, so I've seen quite a few of you reference a "1.1.2 Jailbreaker" or something similar. Am I missing something? I've seen the guide here for jailbreaking 1.1.2 and it's a 2-3 page guide with lots of steps, use of outside programs like iNdependence, etc. You guys make it sound like there's an easy 1.1.2 jailbreak out there like there is for 1.1.1 and 1.1.3. If so, please point me in the right direction!

No. It was an update to AppSnapp, which allows you to jailbreak 1.1.1. Nothing more, nothing less.

Yeah I restored to 1.1.1 and when I installed AppSnapp it did say it installed OktoPrep but when I update to 1.1.2 and try to use the Jailbreak program it says I needed to download OktoPrep, is there possibly a separate source I can get OktoPrep from when I'm on 1.1.1?
