  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

      1) Install MobileFinder (if you already had it, uninstall it and install again)
      2) Launch MobileFinder from the springboard.
      3) Tap "Settings" and turn on "System File Access"
      4) Tap "Finder" then "Up". You should be in the file system now.
      5) Navigate to private/var/root/Library/Installer/ and delete LocalPackages.plist
      6) Reinstall Community Sources, BSD subsystem and OpenSSH.
      7) Reinstall the rest of your 3rd party apps.

*You should also delete the 300+MB file (113_upgrade_image.bin) from /var/root/media/softupdate that was used during the jailbreak.

You now may use WinSCP! The username is "mobile" and the password is "alpine"!
how do you delete the localpackages.plist?

I went to "file" then delete but its still there.

Any help, sorry for the trouble....

After running the jb113 terminal app, upon completion it suggests going to the installer and installing the 1.1.3 soft upgrade package. After updating the installer to 3.0b10 and running the install routine for 1.1.3 soft upgrade package, I noticed that the firmware failed to update to 1.1.3. This seems to be confirmed by running the 1.1.3 soft upgrade cleaner as it indicates that it does not see 1.1.3 firmware. None of this particularly bothers me as I noticed, after this process, that the installer recommends that 1.1.3 soft only be installed by developers.

The thing that's interesting is that now the installer fails to see 3rd party installed apps. and I have to control them using INdependence. This is curious. Does anyone know what this is about?

After restoring a few times, I found out a couple of things:

      - Icon display order is saved with backup
      - Battery icon hack is saved with backup

For those of you with issues installing BSD, pick up BSD Lite from the MeachWare source
      (http://meachware.com/list.xml)

its still there but different... because when you open installer it has to recreate the plist file...

I think that its great that its been cracked!!! and at least for the most part it works...I'd be nice to find a solution to those issues though....I bet there will be another release soon.

BSD is a repo issue. If you install all sources theres v.1.5 somewhere on one of nullrivers. thats what i had to do.

I followed everything to a T and all I get is the phone in restore mode at the end. I did a fresh restore to 1.1.1>jailbreak>oktoprep>update to 1.1.2>jailbreak> load 1.1.3jailbreak files to phone, install the 1.1.3 soft update in installer.app (after about 10 minutes of what looked likea frozen screen it will reboot and give me the restore screen for itunes) It can not be booted from this with ibrickr or jailbreak.jar. both methods reboot the phone but it boots up righ back into restore mode.

Could you respond viz pm please? Kind of tough surging through pages and pages of this thread :/
