  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

it is real man...yes you can do it... the only difference with is that this method does not flash your baseband so you can use your 1.1.3 as phone...

uninstall applications prior to upgrade, they just might be in a different folder... from what I read thats how the jailbreak works. this is new software and is moving files around to begin the apps for sale proccess that apple is about to do. So im sure files were moved around to create space for all the new apps that they might be releasing?

Im gonna wait for the word from the Dev team, I have trusted them all along and not once has anything gone wrong.. Apple having knowledge of this jailbreak is not good because they can now counteract before the release of the sdk.

Plus Im not to keen on losing all my apps, which is one of the main reasons for jailbreaking in the first place.

Have patience and good things happen, Ill be happy when an unlock comes out for the 1.1.2 out the box.

my SSH seems to be down.. and i tried un-installing customize through installer..

then installing it.. and it said its for 1.1.2 firmware :/
What you have to do is navigate to /var/root/library/installer with iPhoneBrowser and delete local packages... now you can install BSD Subsystem and OpenSSH.

Alright, posting this to clarify a few Questions that might arise and expand on the EDGE Connection Problem with T-Mobile:

      I have a 1.1.2 OTB Iphone
      Stealth SIM
      T-Mobile Service w/Total Internet

Update worked. 3rd Party Apps are gone but may be reinstalled (apparently).
So far all features seem to work. Edge settings are reset to BLANK.

Problem tho: As previously stated - As soon as you try to reenter EDGE Settings and you finish the first line, it returns to the home screen. I have previusly seen an approach to change it in the phone itself (the file). Have no clue how to edit the file tho.

As quoted by rishy in another Thread:

"you can chnage the setting in this file
      /var/root/Library/Preferences/com.apple.carrier.plist

      modify this section

      apn
      internet2.voicestream.com
      password

      username

      Digg"

Not sure if that ill solve the problem. But MAYBE if we can edit the file in the phone this issue is off the table. Any input is highly appreciated.

I agree. I am on a jailbroken 1.1.2 and its fine for now. Why go though this if the google maps and perhaps other features might not work correct?

Dev Team is just that, a TEAM, not one person who for whatever reason released what I would consider a hacked way to get most of 1.1.3.

I'll wait for the real developers to release a 1.1.3 jailbreak.
