  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

Well i finally got my week 50 iphone 1.1.2OTB 4.6 bootloader jailbroken on 1.1.3! firmware.

I followed these instructions by BigWalsh:

***Go here to downgrade to 1.1.1. http://www.hackthatphone.com/113/iph...grade_113.html
They have a really detailed tutorial for downgrading. Note- I did this jailbreak 3 times and each time I had to restore to 1.1.1 twice before I could get it out of recovery mode.
After you get 1.1.1 jailbroken Install BSD Subsystem from Installer. (Don't install anything else yet). Then run the ibrickr 1.1.3 jailbreak edition and let it do its work. This may take a while. After iBrickr is done go to installer, reinstall community sources and run the 1.1.3 soft update (under recent packages). This might take up to 15 minutes. Don't touch the phone if it looks frozen. After that finishes the phone will reboot and you will be jailbroken on 1.1.3. Now install openSSH from installer (you may have to reinstall BSD Subsystem) and download lockdownd file from here- http://rs323.rapidshare.com/files/86377952/lockdownd Then, using a program like winSCP log into your phone (username: mobile - password: alpine) and place the file under /usr/libexec. Then reboot the phone and sync once with itunes and phone and edge should activate.***

I got full service and every feature is working!

The only problem I have is when I connect to itunes, it say I have 493.2MB space used. But I don't have anything on it, no Songs..nothing. How do we remove that space.
      Does anybody have this problem?
There is a fix in installer for that...

quite a few, use navizon, find yourself, then use google maps find me...waaay more accurate...

maybe bossprefs could figure out what it is that Navizon does to enable locate me, and add a little toggle or something..

I'm not sure why people are having so many issues. My only issue is the iTunes playing previews, which I don't even care about.

Hybrid maps worked for me right off the bat, the only thing that doesn't is locate me. I know you need the newer baseband for this. I tried some of the other fixes and they didn't work.

And the installer fix to free up space only takes off 300mb, there's still around 180mb unknown. Clean install.

I bet most of this will all be fixed soon. People need to stop posting the same thing 300 times.

Learn how to read, man. There are 60 pages in this topic, and nearly each one has something written about it.

Has anybody else noticed that even after removing the 300 mb install files, that their iphones are short an additional 185 mb compared to before?
I have over 300 mb in the other category according to itunes. Ironically running bosstool shows me with 277 of free space in one partition and 17 in the other, when itunes has me at 55 mb free overall.

I have sshed into my phone and have looked everywhere for residual apps data etc. in all folders etc. and I have thoroughly cleand out extraneous stuff to no avail.

Yes for anyone asking I also used the install removal fix from installer. Fact is there is still about 185 mb missing. I am not alone in noticing this but no one has an explanation as to where it went and what is on it.

Ok, so I used the soft upgrade remover, and I still have almost 600 MB of "other." I tried finding the files using SSH on my mac, and iphone browser on my pc, but I couldn't find the files? Does anyone have any ideas?

i made a list of stuff i want to be fixed on 1.13 (because right now im still considering going back to 1.12 jailbroken unlocked):

-the 185mb left of space i have after running 300mb cleanup

-getting smbprefs to work to change backgrounds (since it changes icons but not the background)

-finding a way to get the carrier settings to work for unlocked phones (the page that shows u all the numbers to check ur balance, etc.)

-and finding a way to fix the "could not play preview" problem in itunes music store WITHOUT GOING BACK to 1.11-1.12 then 1.13 to fix.

if any1 can find ways to fix these it would be great or i'll just go back to 1.12 until offical method is released. i went through so much sh*t just to get to 1.13 lol.

Can I get a few of you heavy SMS users to please check your messages to see if they are now randomly out of order. I have noticed that on both of the 1.1.2 OTB's I upgraded and jailbroke, the SMS messages have rearranged themselves and are out of order. They stay in order as long as I don't leave the conversation and continue to message but once I leave and go back, they are out of order.

I did it and it ran fine I now have a 1.1.3 phone locked version with installer on it. The only drawback is that the baseband did not change (knew that though) So my Google Maps doesn't work. Note: You will also have to uninstall all your apps and then re-install them as well
