  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

I have followed the mac os jailbreak on an OOB UK iPhone and thought I would leave my T-Mobile UK with BLADOX TurboSim in. Looks fine so far, Calls go in and out, SMS works great in and out and multiple.

Ill do a proper road test on it tomorrow and post any issues (hopefully none)

So, if I am reading correctly, this won't work because I already upgraded my iphone to 1.1.3 earlier? After reading, you start with 1.1.1/1.1.2 then upgrade to 1.1.3 via this hack, so that means since I already have 1.1.3 installed (I still have my hack files apparently because i have 400 mb listed as "other"),so this means I am still screwed?

all we need is a baseband updater now :/ because if you restart your iphone you lose the ability to use locate me in google maps... you have to reinstall navizon and do that process all over again...

Yeah I did overlook it. Technically speaking it could still be ATT using make it mine (if we wanted to be technical) but for all intents and purposes it probably is not. Thanks for flaming me. it helped make the thread even longer!

      PLEASE HELP
I think not, simply because the modem firmware on the 1.1.3 boxed is different. This jailbreak makes it so the firmware update never happens (but it is already there on the OTB versions)

My jailbroken 1.1.13 phone has the newest firmware (04.03.13.G). But it was an ordeal for me. I posted a lengthy screed two pages back how it worked out that way.

who has done the 1.1.2 > 1.1.3 (normal apple upgrade "itunes") back to 1.1.1 unmodified > to 1.1.1 jailbroken > 1.1.3 jailbroken? im thinking about doing this... just to make the maps app work correctly... but just wondering if anyone has tried it as i do know that by going through itunes upgrade... it changes your baseband...

So many people and threads talk about ipod touch jailbreak working is that true or should I still wait until the dev team releases there official jailbreak for touch 1.1.3. Because as I see it the program downloads the iphone 1.1.3 update not the ipod one.

Ok I had a week 51 1.1.2 OTB iphone with 4.6 bootloader. I downgraded to 1.1.1, jailbroke, and ran ibrickr and the soft update. I had no phone function when I was on 1.1.3 jailbroken so I downloaded the lockdownd file and put it in /usr/libexec, rebooted and synced. Now everything works. Phone, Edge, Locate me, hybrid maps, and mail. The only things that aren't working is ringtones and itunes. iTunes won't preview any songs and after I downloaded a song to my phone it wouldn't play. Even after I deleted it from my phone and synced it back it still wouldn't play. Does anyone know how to fix these problems?

Remind me again why you're even posting in an iPhone forum?

And how about reading the thread before asking asinine questions? Because you want to be spoon-fed answers instead of actually doing the research, right?

      Piss off.
