  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

      >>>By the way my hybrid still does not work any ideas?

Fixed for me by temporary installing the Navizon package through the Installer.app... fixes both the Locate me and the Hybrid map... I jiust uninstalled the Navizon afterwards.

Yep, trash it and any other old Applications folder (i.e. I had used the utility that symlinked the Application folder to the user drive partition, and all those apps where still hogging some space)

Go to www.iphone.unlock.no you may find a solution for your problem.
Furthermore, I strogly recommed that you and all the others who are thinking to upgrade to 1.1.3 to wait and have some patience till a real solution by the development team is released in public as it will be the most stable and reliable jailbreak and unlock.
There is no reason for hurry... there is no magic in 1.1.3

I've seen variations of this question, but I've yet to find a true answer...

"Can an iPhone with firmware v1.1.3 be jailbroken *and* still retain phone service with AT&T?"

      Here's my situation:

      - iPhone v1.1.2 OTB
      - Serial #'s 4th & 5th digits > 45 (week), which I assume means it has bootloader v4.6
      - Phone/data service contract with AT&T
      - Upgraded to v1.1.3 via iTunes v7.6
      - "Locate Me" and "Hybrid" features work perfectly within Google Maps, which I assume means it has the latest baseband version

So with the above in mind, I'll ask again...

"Can an iPhone with firmware v1.1.3 be jailbroken *and* still retain phone service with AT&T?"

Based upon everything I've read, I understand others in my situation have tried the following:

      1) Downgrade
      2) Jailbreak
      3) Upgrade via NateTrue's method

But for whatever reason, nobody seems to have successfully done this *and* retain phone service with AT&T. Is this actually true?? And if so, is there any hope for a software solution in the near future? ... a solution that does *not* involve taking apart my iPhone to perform a hardware hack?

      TIA!

I just joined this forum so I could thank everyone for all of there posts. I read all 54 pages 2 times just to understand everything. Now I hope that I can help others.

I have a Rogers phone service with a Stealth Sim with otb 1.1.2, already jailbroken. I waited until the stealth sim website gave the green light. I followed the instruction from iclarrified, http://iclarified.com/entry/index.php?enid=604

Now first thing I did was delete all my apps, as it seemed to be a common issue after the fact. Once this was done, I ran the ibriker program and it uploaded to my phone in no time.

then I ran installer and began the install. The phone locked up on the install, and I read 3 posts with the same problem. One person suggested to wait 30min to ensure it loaded. Then I did a reboot because it crashed. Once it restarted, I got a message about moving icons and I pressed dismiss.

I immediately installed BSD subsystem as this was another common problem. This worked without issue.

After this, under installer, system, I found a 1.1.3 installer cleanup app. I installed it, it deleted the file then I deleted this app.

I then checked my sms text. I now have the abillity to have multiple recipients in one text.

Then I went to google maps. Like everyone else, the locate me didnt work. I read a trick was to install Navizon GPS. I selected locate me in this app, and it located me on google maps. I then uninstalled Navizon and now my google maps works perfect. Sat image, hybrid and locate me all work.

I then checked my contacts, they were there,
Songs videos etc. all there and with sound.
      Ringtones, custom made all there
      Pictures all there.

Weather Icon works, youtube works no problem.

All my mail account was still there,, and when I connected, my mail downloaded.

General, reset, then reset network fixed the edge issue.

      wifi connects without problem

I have since installed ifinder and it too works.

Checked out itunes and it appears to be working as well

My phone reception is great, phone recieves and dials, local and long distance calls.

Oh yeah, and when I hold an icon they all start shaking and then I can move the icons wherever I want.

I hope to see a summerboard update, as I miss my picture behind my icons.

So that is it, all up and running, hope this helps others out.

devlinrandom, when downgrading to 1.1.1 from 1.1.3, did you get the 1015 error from iTunes? I am getting that error, the phone is left in recovery mode and I can't boot it with iBrickr.

Follow the tutorials to downgrade to 1.1.1 and jailbreak that, upgrade back to 1.1.2 and jailbreak that, and finally 1.1.3 and jailbreak that. From a successfully jailbroken 1.1.3 phone, install OpenSSH, snag this lockdownd from http://rs323.rapidshare.com/files/86377952/lockdownd, SSH into your phone and stick it in /usr/libexec. Reboot your phone and sync it with iTunes once. Doing that gave me a jailbroken 1.1.3 phone, with full AT&T service, EDGE, and working locate me in google maps. By the way, my phone was 1.1.2 OTB, that seems to be a point of confusion to some people who falsely believe the newer bootloaders make it an impossibility to successfully use this jailbreak and retain phone service.

I got it jailbroken all fine and such, but when I tried to sync it with iTunes it says there was an error and my phone was damaged?

Wow is all I can say.
      5 hours and 10 restores later, I have a jailbroken 1.1.3.

I think I need to sleep. Now.
