  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Goes Public!
Per NateTrue's blog, the 1.1.3 jailbreak is official! UPDATE: The jailbreak is now for Windows and OS X both. Here's the OS X jailbreak download. (non-member mirror)

You must have a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken iPhone already for this to work (or jailbreak yours).

Here's the brief details, before we get our full guide up:

    - Start with a 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 jailbroken phone with Installer.app installed.
    - Plug in your phone via USB to your computer.
    - Download, extract, and run iBrickr Special 1.1.3 jailbreak edition (non-member mirror) (ibrickr.exe in the archive).
    - iBrickr will determine what firmware you are running on your phone and make sure you can run the update.
    - iBrickr will then guide you through the process of obtaining and modifying the 1.1.3 firmware (make sure to read everything thoroughly).
    - iBrickr will upload the new firmware image to your phone. Note that this only puts the file on your phone and does not modify it at all, yet.
    - When iBrickr finishes (should take about 10 minutes), it will tell you to go to Installer and install the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" package. Do that.
    - When the installer finishes (this should take another 10-15 minutes), your phone should reboot with a fresh activated 1.1.3 firmware.
Note: There is a bit of controversy surrounding this release. It seems NateTrue and the iPhone Dev Team have parted ways over this release - they believe the legality is questionable, NateTrue believes it is within rights. MMi remains neutral until more info is released. At the moment, it seems there's a rumble in the Bronx, so to speak.

    Update: from NateTrue:
And zdziarski thinks there's more in the patches than there really is. It's just identifying pieces, so that the patcher software knows where to cut and paste and modify. And some kernel caches. Nothing big.

I did all of the stuff with Ibrickr i then continue with the "1.1.3 soft upgrade" thru the installer it went with the install and then reboot by itself, BUT when it boot back it doesnt go pass the APPLE icon it just there stuck/frozen.

I reset by pressing power/home but it just reset to the samething to the apple icon.

Any ideas whats going on? Does it take a l;ong time to finish doing the "1.1.3 soft upgrade?

      Thanks

So from what I have seen, everyone has had different problems or different success stories but the one constant is that the ringtones, weather they are default iPhone ringtones or purchased in iTunes. DO NOT WORK..... this is very important for me... so I have started my downgrade to 1.1.2 again.

Good luck with the later releases guys

yup, mine was unlocked before and i didn't have to unlock it afterwards

@kuhn - i used the ringtone trick in itunes (converting them to aac then m4r), and all my ringtones stayed right where they were and all work perfectly (just tested them to be sure)

You downloaded the 1.1.3 firmware and put it in the /tmp/data directory as 1.1.3.ipsw, right? Or, let Nate's Mac program download it for you?

well i let nates do it, ran it and at the part that says "might take 2minutes to install" it does instantly, i then try soft update and it just restarts my iphone to same 1.12

i also tried putting in firmware in tmp/data place but not as "1.1.3.ipsw" file name. i'll try right now and respond with results..

and thank you for ur response

Don't double-click it...open a Terminal window, drag the Run-Me file into the window, and hit Return.

      Finally!

Well ...i've got a question and i hope someone that has done it answers right ...i couldn't find the answer i'm looking for though ...ok ...i have an original 1.1.1, jailbreaked using jailbreakme.com ...unlocked using anySIM ...then updated to 1.1.2 and unlocked with anySIMu (or whatever the name is) ...my iPhone works fine on that ...i understand that if i upgrade using this guide to 1.1.3 i'll have it jailbroken ...but the question is, will it be still unlocked? ...will i be able to use it still as cell-phone in any other company that ATT?

      Thanx in advance!
