  • 1.1.3 Jailbreak Achieved - not public yet
    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=idxxKVM1Cno"]YouTube - 1.1.3 Jailbreak (with Installer.app launch)[/ame]

The iPhone dev team has achieved 1.1.3 jailbreak on both the iPhone AND the iPod Touch. The jailbreak solution has NOT been released to the public, and according to them will not be until February when the SDK releases, that way Apple doesn't get to see the method, and break it before the SDK releases - jailbreak + SDK = awesome app functionality, for that free price we've all come to love for iPhone applications (but always remember - if you like an app, DONATE TO THE DEV!!!!!).

Once the jailbreak is made public, make sure you toss some fundage over to the dev team for their work. (Their site is down right now or I'd link - will add link when its back up). Rock n' roll, folks, the cat and mouse game continues.

Hmm, out of curiosity, has anyone tried StealthSIM/TurboSIM on a jailbroken 1.1.3? Just curious... I am using StealthSIM so I'm wondering if using 1.1.3 myself is a pipe dream...

Guys, kind of confused so don't blast me for my ignorance...

Wouldn't a jailbreak of 1.1.3 released at the same time the SDK is, kind of defeat the purpose? Isn't the jailbreak mainly for the capability of 3rd party apps? I guess for changing the logo, but I'd be cool without that for a minute. Give us the jailbreak NOW!

The jailbreak method will be released soon and not when the SDK is ready at the end of Feb. They are just cleaning up the code and making it easier for us.

      i agree

and tech girl with the SDK you will have to buy programs via iTunes where jailbreaking it doesnt cost money for probably the same programs.

After I recovered from the Nausea of watching the focus of the camera going in and out... It appears that the dl you spoke of does work. I hope it plays nice when you upgrade. You could have just chosen the option of downloading the 1.1.3 software from iTunes and saving it without installing also. Another Two cent....

i know, im not stupid, this is trusted and it is just a little file that makes it think it ahs 1.1.3 so itunes doesnt ask you to update, you can simply remove it it you want to update, i have installed and uninstalled it. everything works fine, its just so you dont accidently click update in itunes and get screwed over and lose everything and just have 1.1.3

Frankly, This can only be classed as good news. If they want to wait - we have to wait.

The work that has gone into modding / hacking / upgrading the iPhone has been well worth waiting for so far, so if it takes week's, it will be worth it in the long run.

Nice one to all the "dev's" working on anything iPhone related so far or anyone planning to in the future.

"Status on 1.1.3 jailbreak and unlock

1.1.3 was released on January 15. Appearantly it has been jailbroken (read/write access) but the solution will not be published before Apple releases SDK, scheduled at Feb 29th. DON'T upgrade to 1.1.3 yet! Secpack from 1.1.3 has been found."

We will still need to jailbreak iPhones after the SDK to install apps not approved by Apple, to install themes, wallpapers, and alternate sounds, etc. Games like NES, adding ringtones without buying them on iTunes, or hacked text messaging tools are why we need jailbreaking.

Great job guys. Thanks for all you do!

i was just wondering if the dev team could tell wat we need for this jailbreak. is it going to be like upgrading to 1.1.2 because downgrading from 1.1.3 was quite difficult for me.

To the post above, you can add ringtones to 1.1.3 right now without jailbreak, I did.

That quote from unlock.no is BS. Here is a quote from a member of the team that cracked it. He makes no mention of waiting for the SDK release.

"As I always thought, the whole is greater than the sum of the parts.

iPhone-elite and the best crew of the first dev-team joined forces (from 1 month).

And results are finally coming out of our rotten brains

1.1.3 Firmware has been Jailbroken !

Details will follow when the procedure will be trimmed down.
At the moment is not something anyone can do
      ."

Well... it doesn't matter anymore if you wait until SDK launch to release the jailbreak because you already told the public you have done it.

Apple will now spend the next month analyzing every possible security flaw, some of which the Dev team may have not even noticed, thus creating the next update more secure than ever before. (If they knew the security flaw, they would probably just patch it, but now, in hopes of finding it, they will probably find many others...)

I mean, it took 1 day to break the last update and 4 days to jailbreak this update. Why wait over a month to release the jailbreak if you are confident in your ability to break into the iPhone?

Isn't that where the Dev team gets all their enjoyment? The challenge of breaking into the new iPhone update?

Just my tidbit... but hey, you guys found the jailbreak so do whatever you like.
