  • The Rumor Wagon Rolls Out the 1.1.3 Update
According to CNet France we can all expect version 1.1.3 to be released by the end of the week.

What is it supposed to include?
    • a dictaphone (i.e. voicenotes)
    • disk mode storage (like all the ipods -- should have been there from the beginning)
    • The normal array of anti modder updates setting everyone back for a week and just cause a headache.
    thanks Great_Pumpkin

another update already? wow?! i better update to 1.1.2 now then. hehehe, i always stay one firmware behind. samething last time when 1.1.2 came out, i immediately updated from 1.0.2 to 1.1.1 before 1.1.2 came out.

Do I NEED to update my iphone? I still have 1.0.2 and it seems to be fine with me. I just don't want to go through the hassle of deleting the content on my phone. Am i gonna have to update eventually or is it okay to stay with this version?

Disk storage would be the bizz. But what 'bout bein' able to upload files off the drive? Let's not forget about flash support, that's a must have. Hopefully all this can happen before they discontinue the updates for the 1st Gen iPhone.

i don't see why people are so excited about "disk mode storage"...you can put all you want on your phone with programs like ibrickr or putty. sure its not as easy or glamorous but it works.

Then you can drag and drop any file you like onto the iphone and use the iphone as a storage disk.
      Pretty Handy =)
I believe that's already appearing on my Vista putter.

It'll be nice on machines where you can't install software like at work or school...

why is everyone so worried about apple not putting out updates? Who needs them anyway. look at what has happened in the short time the iphone has been out. the dev team has done almost whatever they want to the iphone. if apple doesn't update us anymore, so what we can do it ourselves. then everyone with a bright and shiny NEW iphone will be asking us where did we get all the cool stuff and how to get it on their iphone. personally i don't care if apple stops updating us. that means less jailbreaking, downgrading just to upgrade, doing all this research and hacking. if they left us at one system we could master it ad do whatever we want to it. I'm not worried about updates weather they come or not. the dev team can, and has, done more to my iphone then apple.

hasn't anyone realized if it did have new features it would be 1.2.0 not 1.1.3 . If it were 1.1.3 it would be behind the scenes fixes.

Apple hung their hats on the idea that software updates will keep the iphone on the cutting edge. It's the reason they "rushed" the product out the door. I doubt they will abandon this idea when the new iphones are released. As with their OS, they will continue to develop for 1st gen phones. They have too. They risk losing too many customers otherwise.

A valid point has been raised!!!

But do any of us know exactly how apple numbers its software updates? There could be a new feature in it, who knows...

Which makes me wonder....has anyone actually seen an internal iPhone at apple run 1.1.3?

      But then again...

Talk to me when they add an A2DP profile for stereo bluetooth playback. As an avid music listener, I hate not being able to take full advantage of all that bluetooth has to offer.

...they way apple numbers their OS's, then this makes some since. Although, Apple has been known to make major improvements from time to time w/o making a major version number change.

So who is going ot be the 1st guinea pig, remember that it most probably will make any hacked phone not work wth any of the 3rd party software etc??

Agreed..BUT will Apple be able to implement it with only a SW update?
